I've been bombarded with calls on both my mobile and home phone incessantly. It's so bizarre; when I finally answer the landline, it's dead quiet - not a soul on the other end, even when I greet them with a cheery "hello." It’s become quite the nuisance, as they've rung me around ten times in a single day! Oddly enough, when I'm not around and the calls are missed, I’ve noticed they’ve been logged on 1571. The persistent number behind this annoyance appears to be 0843 4101111, and I can hardly believe I managed to trace it back through 1471!

Some bloke pretending to be from Microsoft called me up, started off with those easy questions like “Have you been on your computer over the last few days?” just to build some trust, I guess. Then he goes on saying they got some error reports coming from my PC and asks if I’d been tweaking any settings. Since I work in IT, I gave him a detailed rundown of some changes I’d made a while back. As you’d expect, next thing he’s trying to get me to visit a sketchy website to “sort out the issue” - likely to install something dodgy or take control of my machine. After wasting a bit of their time and not getting anywhere, I bluntly asked why Microsoft should care if my computer works how I want, not how they expect, and then he just hung up on me.

I've been getting calls from this number quite a bit lately. Yesterday it rang about 4 times, and already 4 times again today. Whenever I do answer, nobody ever actually talks. Just silent on the other end.

Even though we've got a call blocker set up specifically to stop cold calls, this number manages to ring us up a couple of times every day. Thankfully it's just an automated voice on the other end, so it can't reply to the message telling them not to call, which stops the actual person from getting through. Still, the call logs show they are trying repeatedly, which is annoying.

Usually I just say I’m on the TPS and they call off, but about five minutes ago I tried that and the guy started laughing and said, “Maxine, don’t you recall me?” He kept chuckling like it was some kind of prank. Then he told me he’d be at my place tomorrow, and even gave my address. I guess he must have got my details from the same place as my number, but it left me feeling really exposed and uneasy.

got a call from some indian guy claiming i'd get a refund for some ppi on a loan from like 2005 to 2008 worth about a grand lol i was like "what loan? who did i get it from?" he goes on about a home improvement loan and says i must remember it, but honestly i never took a loan in my life. then he just hung up on me haha. definitely looks like a scam, probably after your bank info to “send” you money. watch out for these dodgy calls!

Just let it ring a few times before picking up and put it on loudspeaker - they’re footing the bill after all. Don’t get pulled into any chat apart from asking if they can connect you to a UK-based call centre for the issue (like PPI). You’ve got every right to be transferred to someone within the UK, maybe even thanks to UK law! Until proper measures are taken by the government and telecom companies here to block these calls, especially ones coming from abroad, we’ll keep getting bothered. It’s really an invasion of privacy and disrupts daily living. Since the TPS is pretty much useless for calls originating in the UK, it might be a lost cause. Drop a line to your MP at The House of Commons and keep pushing. If they receive the same hassle (maybe via post), they could be persuaded to take action. Otherwise, just don’t bother voting for them next time!

So, at about half past twelve today, I got a call from an Indian guy who called himself 'Jack'. He was really pushy, telling me I had a loan that I never heard of. I told him I’d never taken any loan out, but he kept going on about me being due over £2,000. I asked him to send me something in writing to my address, which I didn’t give him, and then he just ended the call straight away!
