I've been bombarded with calls on both my mobile and home phone incessantly. It's so bizarre; when I finally answer the landline, it's dead quiet - not a soul on the other end, even when I greet them with a cheery "hello." It’s become quite the nuisance, as they've rung me around ten times in a single day! Oddly enough, when I'm not around and the calls are missed, I’ve noticed they’ve been logged on 1571. The persistent number behind this annoyance appears to be 0843 4101111, and I can hardly believe I managed to trace it back through 1471!

These calls are clearly aimed at older folks, trying to scam them out of their money. It's really sad how they target the elderly like that.

I received a rather dodgy call from someone pretending to be from Microsoft. It all started quite innocuously with some leading questions, like "Have you been on your computer in the last three days?"-a query that anyone with a computer would likely respond positively to. They then went on to claim they'd spotted some error reports associated with my device and wanted to know if I'd altered any settings. Given that I'm in the IT field, I detailed a few specific customizations I'd made, all of which have been in place for ages. Unsurprisingly, they were keen for me to navigate to a particular website to "resolve the issue," which I suspected was just a ploy to either infect my system with malware or gain remote access. After spinning them a yarn for a little while and arriving at a standstill, I probed about why Microsoft would be bothered with the state of my machine, as long as it worked the way I preferred. They promptly hung up on me!

This firm seems to be quite adept at persuading individuals to hand over their banking information without a second thought. These sorts of scams, often referred to as vishing calls, can result in your funds being pilfered. While it's possible that banks might reimburse you, there's no guarantee that you'll see your money again. Stay wary out there!

I’ve been getting a barrage of calls from this number lately-four times just yesterday and already four more today. Each time I’ve answered, no one has bothered to say a word! It's quite odd, really.

I'm being pestered by this number a couple of times daily, which is infuriating since we have a call blocker in place that clearly states we don’t entertain cold sales pitches. Fortunately, these calls are automated, so they don’t seem to grasp the instructions in our message, meaning the operator can't get a word in edgewise. Still, it's quite maddening that the calls are coming through at all, and the annoyance of it is still noted.

I often remind these sales callers that I'm registered with the Telephone Preference Service, and typically, they hang up rather hurriedly. However, just a mere five minutes ago, I experienced something quite unsettling. When I mentioned the TPS, the caller burst into laughter and claimed, "Maxine, don’t you recall me?" He continued to chuckle as if it were all some sort of jape. Then, quite alarmingly, he declared that he would be arriving at my residence tomorrow, even quoting my address. It's clear that he must have sourced that detail alongside my phone number, but honestly, it left me feeling rather exposed and uneasy.

I've received an astonishing five phone calls in just 48 hours! Three of those were utterly silent, and the other two had a guy from India claiming to represent the PPI Helpline. The moment I requested he cease calling, he promptly hung up-but lo and behold, he rang me back a mere twenty minutes later! Quite the persistent fellow, isn’t he?

I recently received a rather peculiar call from an Indian gentleman who claimed I was owed a PPI refund on a loan taken out between 2005 and 2008, which he estimated to be around £1,000. I found the whole situation amusing and asked him, "And which lender are you referring to?" He insisted that I should recall a home renovation loan, to which I firmly responded, "I’ve never had any loan, mate." At that point, he abruptly ended the call! It really felt like an attempt to scam unsuspecting individuals. Be cautious, everyone; they might be fishing for your banking information under the guise of a refund!

Let the phone ring for a bit, then pick it up and just leave it on speaker. They’re footing the bill, after all.
Avoid any conversation unless it’s to request a UK-based call centre that can address the issue at hand (like PPI). You have every right to be connected to a UK representative (possibly in accordance with UK regulations!).

Until the UK government and our telecommunications providers can sort themselves out and put a stop to these nuisance calls-especially those coming from abroad-we’ll be left to deal with these interruptions to our daily lives.

That said, the TPS for calls from within the UK appears to be ineffectual... so chances are nothing may come of it. Consider writing to your Member of Parliament at The House of Commons and don’t back down. If they’re also facing the same frustrations (even if it’s just through correspondence), perhaps they’ll take action... otherwise, don’t cast your vote for them next time around.

Earlier today at half past twelve, I received a rather pushy call from a gentleman named 'Jack' claiming to be from an Indian company. He insisted I had some sort of loan registered under my name. When I cheekily informed him I had never taken out a loan, he adamantly continued that I was actually eligible for a sum of £2,000 or more. I requested that he send me the details in writing to my home address, which I refrained from providing, and lo and behold, he abruptly ended the call! How very peculiar!
