This number called me earlier today. When I picked up and said hello, I noticed some faint noise in the background, seemed like it was some sort of call centre. Then suddenly it went dead silent but they didn’t disconnect. I tried saying hello once more, but no reply, so I just ended the call.

Got a call from some random bloke who asked if I subscribed to the Guardian, said he had some vouchers to offer. He never mentioned the company he was ringing on behalf of. There was a lot of noise in the background too. Definitely a cold call.

Today, I got a phone call from someone saying they were from the Guardian, trying to get me to sign up for a trial with free newspapers and a discount. They mentioned that after the trial period, I’d have to start paying and would have to share my bank info. I was a bit daft and ended up giving them my address and email, but I didn't hand over any debit card details. The person sounded pretty believable, to be honest.
