what a scam, honestly i really got tricked. feels daft now but when you’re having an off day they just make it so easy to take your cash. luckily hsbc sorted it out and gave me the money back, but i still get nervous whenever i get calls from banks or stuff like that now.

I got a text from Barclaycard saying someone tried to move £1600 from my account and told me to ring 08432898065. I phoned and was left waiting on hold forever. While waiting, I googled the number and found out it’s a scam. Just wanted to give a heads up to anyone else.

Had a look at this website and I’m pretty sure it’s a scam. Got a text saying something like: "Have you tried to move £1600 on 02/06/2015? Ring us at 0843 289 8065 to verify this payment. Make sure you’ve got your PinSentry or Mobile App ready." Felt dodgy from the start!

Today I got a call asking if I’d tried to send £1900 on 01/06/2015. They told me to ring 08432898065 to verify it, and to have my customer number and card reader handy. Cheers to all my mates for the heads up! Honestly, not sure what that was about.

Got a text claiming to be from Natwest, rang the number back but was met with some robot voice and put on hold. The automated message didn't even say which bank it was for. I ended up hanging up pretty quick.

Got a call on my mobile from a number saying it was Barclay's, which I know isn’t true as I don’t have an account with them. I didn’t pick up or respond at all. Later, I looked up the number on 'Who called me' and found loads of others saying the same thing. Big thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences - it definitely gave me peace of mind!

I rang Barclays Fraud straight away and they told me it’s a scam, so I wouldn’t bother calling that number.

I honestly thought it was Barclays contacting me, since the scammers sent texts from the same number I usually see for my Barclays alerts. How on earth did this happen, Barclays??? Spent nearly my entire workday on the phone trying to get through to the Barclays Fraud department to understand what’s going on. Really frustrating!

The caller ID showed BARCLAYS but it’s just someone messing about with a VoIP number, which isn’t hard to fake. Funny enough, I got the same text today! These lot don’t even bother changing the amount, it’s always 1600 pounds and from that same 0843 number. Makes you wonder if they’ll smarten up soon. Honestly, electronic payments can be a nightmare with stuff like this going on!

Has anyone else had a call about trying to move £1600 on 21/05/2015? They asked me to ring 0843 289 8065 to verify it and said I’d need my pin-sentry or banking app ready. What confuses me is how they showed the caller ID as Barclays - is it BT that charges for showing a name instead of just the number or something? This doesn’t feel right at all.
