Just got a call from someone claiming to be British Gas saying my rates were going to increase. I asked them to send me an email instead because I’m not comfortable taking these chats over the phone. The guy then told me he wasn’t able to do that. Definitely sounds like a scam to me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from my electric company asking for my meter reading. When I asked which supplier they were from, they said EON, but that’s not right. They also couldn’t tell me the name on the account, which seemed odd. Plus, the number they called wasn’t linked to any of my electricity bills. Pretty sure it was some kind of scam attempt.

I already blocked this bloke’s previous number but now he’s ringing me on this one. Some really cheeky guy with an Asian accent, kept badgering me to talk to the owner of the business, despite me telling him off loads of times to quit calling. He said he’s from Eon or something, but honestly, the way he spoke was just shocking! If you see this, mate... why not find yourself a proper job!

I got a call from someone saying they were with E-ON, but it was clearly a scam. They tried calling me again about an hour or two later from the number 01903 703403, and I saw on this site that it's known for scam calls too. Definitely dodgy.

Got a call about a decade back from what was clearly a scam. Ignored it straight away.

Someone called saying they were from E-On Next, and actually had my first name and account number which was a bit worrying. They rang me twice yesterday and also twice the day before that. I wasn’t able to answer at first, so I phoned E-On myself using the number I had saved, and they told me they hadn’t been trying to get in touch with me. So when they called again today, I didn’t give them any details and told them I’d report them to the police if they kept pushing. The caller got all moody and said someone else would call me later.

somebody called me saying she was charlotte from eon next, the number on my screen was 0808 5015338. she told me to ring back on 0808 5015699, which after a quick google turned out to be an official eon number. she said it was about my direct debit payment. glad i looked it up here before calling them back! thanks to everyone who shared their experiences!

According to Google, this number is linked to Eon Next. I got a call from an Asian guy who claimed to be from Eon, wanting to speak with the person in charge of the business account. I do run a home-based business but I don't have any Eon account with them. I said I wasn’t a customer. After that, he muttered something I couldn’t hear properly and then just ended the call!

Got a call from these numbers - 0808 501 5699 if you’re with a business and 0345 301 5313 for home users, apparently. Heard it from Jackie on 07816197643. Said it’s e-on but kinda smells like a scam to me. They even showed up at the door which was a bit worrying.

I got a call from some bloke saying his name was Stephen and that he worked for EE. He was trying to get me to accept some sort of discount for my next bill, but the thing is, I don't even have EE as my provider. When I told him to leave me alone and refused to share any info, he just told me to buzz off! Proper daft, if you ask me.

It’s really annoying, they kept ringing me non-stop like every few minutes, all supposedly about utilities. I told them to stop calling but they just ignored it. Calling me over and over during work hours feels like proper harassment.

I received a rather insistent phone call from someone who seemed to know an awful lot about me. They had my full name and current address on hand! The individual claimed to be contacting me from an electricity metering centre, insisting that I needed to replace my meter. It definitely felt dodgy-more than likely a scam!

Totally a con. Had a look and everything they say is rubbish. They’re just after your MPAN and a couple of other bits to take over your account. They act like they’re you and sort out switching your energy supplier behind your back. Eon confirmed this to me. Don’t give them any info at all! Just tell them to jog on...

For three straight days I kept getting calls from this number, and it was just relentless. I really should have phoned E-On directly to check, but some calls even seemed to come from their official line. It felt like outright bullying, constant nagging that wore me down. These scammers are really nasty, especially for folks who might be vulnerable and get tricked by their pushy, scary behaviour. Seriously, don’t engage with them at all.

They pretended to be from Energy UK and were really aggressive. Kept saying we were paying way too much for our energy (like that’s not the case for most people!) but couldn’t even say who our supplier was or what rates we had. I just ended the call. Even after I said we weren’t interested, they kept ringing back. I can handle this sort of thing, but I can imagine it would be pretty scary for older or vulnerable folks. Honestly, steer well clear.

The bloke had a thick accent and sounded quite annoyed when I asked him to slow down and repeat what he said. I was just trying to figure out who he was and told him I wasn’t interested. I also told him to stop calling because I’ve been getting loads of calls from them.
