I got a call from this number trying to trick me into registering for some WhatsApp Business Code thing. Don’t have any WhatsApp account myself, so looks pretty dodgy to me. Definitely wouldn’t trust this number, it feels like a scam.

Got a call from some bloke about a company and when I told him it was the wrong number, he got all hostile, accusing me of lying. Wouldn’t believe he’d dialled the wrong person and kept pestering for my name. In the end, I just ended the call and blocked the number.

Today I received a letter supposedly from Eon Next saying I owe £40 for the period of August to September. But I actually changed my energy supplier back on May 10th, so this feels like a total scam to me. The letter looked fake and had an 0808 501 5200 number to ring. They also included bank details for EON, account number 70257647 and sort code 60-80-09, asking for payment. Not sure if the phone number is real or spoofed, but it's really annoying and smells fishy!

Looks like the number might actually be from E.on, or at least it seems real. I rang them up and they told me these con artists have ways to copy phone numbers now. So yeah, don’t just take it at face value. If you’re unsure, just give them a ring yourself. Almost fell for it myself!

I'm with EON and this definitely wasn't them ringing me. They wouldn't provide an account number, just said they were from some 'renewal team'. I'd recommend setting up a password on your account with your energy supplier to stay safe.

Got a call from someone saying they were from E-On about some problem with our electric meters. I tried explaining that the landlord handles all our bills and we don't pay for electricity ourselves, but they just wouldn't accept that and kept pushing.

Got a call from this woman called Stacey Harris saying she was from E-on about some issue with our meter. She wanted to check the meter numbers and when our contract ends, said there’d be an engineer ringing the next day. Turns out it was all a load of rubbish, she just won’t stop phoning. I rang E-on myself and they told me it ain’t them, it’s energy brokers fishing for info on our renewals. Honestly, don’t bother with these calls, just a massive waste of time.

I looked up the number on eonnext.com/contact under the 'Home related calls' section. I haven’t called it myself, I’m handling things through email for now. The number does seem genuine, at least.

Been getting calls from a number claiming to be Eon, just got a txt offering 50% off the winter tariff. Immediately figured it was dodgy, no way Eon would do half price bills 🤣 but somehow they made it look like it’s Eon’s legit number. These hackers are mad, once I got a call from my own number lol, and it even had my grandson’s name pop up. Proper strange but these con artists have all the tricks! This is really worrying, the number says EON next but it’s not actually them. I spoke with EON just yesterday and they said it’s not from their side. Looks like the info is pulled from public records somewhere. They managed to link me and another family member, even though neither of us have an EON account, although I’m dealing with stuff for someone who did. My family member has blocked the number but they’re still managing to get through. Proper creepy.

There’s someone pretending to be from E.ON - please make sure you report it to Action Fraud online right away. Keep any letters, videos, or anything they send you as proof. Some even turn up at people’s houses and mess with the outside meter boxes to scare folks. If you have home security cameras, make sure to record any visits for evidence. Keep all this to show the police if they come round in person. Stay alert and report straight away to the Citizens Advice Bureau and Action Fraud because this is obviously a scam.

They keep ringing me about some health check on my Eon Next account, but I ain't even got one with them. The annoying bit is they always call when I'm busy at work, so haven't got the chance to mess about with them yet.

Supposed to be from eon but the answers i got didnt make sense, i got a cheque claiming it was for my solar panel tariff but i havent submitted any reading this month so how did they figure out the cheque amount? I called their number but couldnt get a clear answer, they couldnt find the cheque number in their system and said theyd call me back, which they never did. Because of this I’m starting to wonder if it might be some sort of scam.

Ask them to flag your account that someone’s pretending to be from Eon Next trying to get access. They’ll never reveal your balance or account details without going through proper security checks first. Scammers want that info so they can contact us pretending to be you and get into your account. This woman rings non stop, always trying to get me to give her details but I just keep dodging her. Sounds like she’s got an Asian accent. She got quite cross when I told her I’d ring her later and asked for her phone number, saying stuff like ‘Don’t you trust me?’ and she wanted to ring me back herself, wouldn’t let me call Eon Next directly.

Got a message from someone called ‘Britiney’ saying they were speaking for my elderly mum, claiming debt collectors would be involved if some balance wasn’t cleared. Thing is, mum’s last bill was already settled, and we only got the latest one the day before! The message didn’t even say how much was owed. I told mum to call the number on her actual bill to double-check, and not to bother with that 0808 number they left.

Got a call from a woman with an Asian accent claiming to be from British Gas, asking for my meter reading. I've got two smart meters that send readings automatically to them via SIM cards. I told her this, and she said it's a technical issue. I just told her they need to sort it out then. They've rung me four times today already, but each time she can’t give me my British Gas account password, so I’ve just ended the calls.

Dodgy caller. Some woman saying she was Jasmine from EON rang me about smart meters using 08085015200, but when I checked my phone logs the real number was 02922229992. When I questioned her about this, all she said was "that’s strange" and didn’t offer any proper answer. She couldn’t tell me if the smart meters had RF filtering or VPN security, nor could she say who was footing the bill for fitting the smart meter. Suspicious all round.
