I got a call saying it was Santander Fraud dept - I phoned their main line and they actually verified the info in the texts I got. Maybe if this site hadn’t made me so suspicious about that number, I’d have actually reached the correct team much quicker!

Maybe it’s Santander. I got a dodgy text and couldn’t figure if it was legit or not. Tried reaching Santander on their live chat but they were swamped, and calls just went unanswered. Nowhere to check it out properly.

You should NEVER ignore any messages from your bank!!! It might be really important!! Check out the safety tips shared here below - 01/05/2021. This number does belong to Santander's Fraud Team, but it doesn't guarantee that they are the ones actually calling. Equally, it might be them, and you might have an urgent issue. Hang up, make sure the call ended properly, then ring your bank on the number on the back of your card right away.

Got a call claiming to be from Santander, but it sounded dodgy. I rang the bank myself on a number I found online, and they said there was no reason for them to call me. Santander also told me they’d never ask anyone to press a button just to go on. Definitely a scam.

The number +44 (0) 808 280 1112 is from my UK bank, Santander. It's an automated line giving me a heads up about suspicious activity. They ask me to verify if I tried to make a payment that was blocked by their fraud system. If I say yes, then they'll let the payment go through the next time. I also got an email alongside the text, telling me to ring the bank and confirm if I was the one trying to make that payment.

I rang Santander’s fraud team after seeing their message: “If you suspect you’ve fallen for a scam or been defrauded, give us a call anytime on 0800 9 123 123.” They told me that the call from 08082801112 was definitely from them.
