If you see a pop-up on your MacBook, don’t call the number or send any money. Your computer isn’t broken, it’s just a scam. Just ignore it and your MacBook will be perfectly alright.

I freaked out a bit when I first saw this, but after having a look at what everyone else said, I feel better now.

Got a call from someone saying they were "Microsoft support" and that my Facebook and credit card info had been stolen. The weird thing was, I kept getting a pop-up asking for my username every time I tried to close the window, so I had to do a shutdown and then cancel it just to get my computer back. Totally fishy, the window didn’t look right at all, so I figured it was a scam.

I got really uneasy thinking someone might have swiped my personal details. Lucky for me, I looked up the number immediately and ran a security check. What a dodgy scam that was.

They assert that they offer assistance for technical issues, but I can’t shake the feeling it's a dodgy operation. When I inquired whether they would be requesting any payment, they rather clumsily dodged the question.

I got suspicious when they suddenly told me I had to pay £200 to get my laptop fixed. Something definitely didn’t feel right from the start.

AVOID THESE INDIVIDUALS AT ALL COSTS; THEY'RE HACKERS. What I can tell you is that the chatter you hear faintly in the background is from unsuspecting patrons, fed into a system using some sort of trickery to mislead you. Luckily, I managed to catch everything on a discreet recording device. Upon reviewing the footage meticulously, I noticed alarming phrases like “UPLOADING VIRUS TO COMPUTER.” To top it all off, they attempted to bill me an outrageous sum of £418 to supposedly eliminate the virus they themselves had implanted. It’s clear the hacker is exploiting your personal information to access your banking details, and beyond that initial charge, they seem to help themselves to whatever else they desire. Authorities have confirmed my suspicions. Now, regarding those voices you hear in the background-it's simply rowdy bar-goers who are loud enough to be heard without any music. The foolish hacker blared the volume, giving me a solid twenty minutes of pub talk, including phrases like “Fancy another pint at the bar, mate, or shall we move to the next one since we’re off on a pub crawl!?” If you encounter a pop-up with an irritating warning, reach out to a tech specialist, and definitely inform the police, as hacking activities are a criminal offence.

Had a message suddenly appear on my screen saying my iMac would be locked in 5 minutes unless I called a number, claiming my info was compromised. I did ring them, but it felt dodgy when they started asking for my bank info to fix a supposed virus. I hung up quick and thankfully, everything's fine now. The person who answered sounded Indian, so definitely not from Apple support.

I got the exact same popup and realised it’s definitely a scam. Don’t give them any of your info. I ended up stopping all emails and I’m gonna get my laptop wiped just to be safe, in case they try to get back in.

Watch out, this is a total scam. Some people from India were on the phone saying I needed to pay to install security software and also charge for an 'expert technician'. I never gave them any money and my Mac is fine, working perfectly. Don’t fall for it!

I never rang them because I’m pretty sure it’s a scam trying to get into your PC. The genuine Microsoft support number looks nothing like that.

Got a warning pop-up saying my PC was locked and to ring this number for help. Turns out it was one of those tech support scams. The so-called virus didn’t even affect my Windows 10 properly, so I managed to get rid of it without any hassle. Out of curiosity, I dialled the freephone, and it was some call centre based in Pakistan. The people there didn’t seem to have a clue about computers. They kept trying to get me to let them access my computer and then asked what credit card I’d use to pay for their “fix”. Complete nonsense.
