I got a letter claiming to be from "HMRC" with a phone number on it, saying I owed money for something called a loan charge. The letter looks pretty official at first glance, but if you check closely the name they put on it is often spelled wrong and the address on the envelope isn’t real at all. It’s a bit sneaky how it seems genuine though, I could see how some folks might fall for it. I’ve had two of these letters so far and have sent them both on to HMRC’s fraud team. Whatever you do, don’t ring the number on the letter.
