‭0808 189 6207‬ rang me from an unknown number. Be careful, they tried to get my card info saying they needed it to cancel a direct debit for some firewall protection I supposedly paid for last year (£227). I told them I don’t even have a desktop 😂 Then they just hung up on me. Seems dodgy to me!

Got the same sort of call again, they change their numbers all the time. I've blocked this one already and I'm blocking any new ones too. Use caller ID and if the number’s unfamiliar, just don’t pick up. They usually put through automated calls first just to see if you’ll answer. If you do and there’s silence, chances are they’ll ring back later on, either from the same number or a different one, trying to con you. Best to steer clear completely.

Had pretty much the same as others have said here. Usually, if I pick up and nobody says anything straight away, I figure it’s a dodgy call from some call centre. I’ve got a few replies I like to use - currently, I tell them “I’m happy to answer your questions, but you’ll need to pay me upfront, say £120 an hour plus VAT.” They hang up so fast it’s almost funny! If I’m not in the mood for that, I just tell them to get lost!

BEWARE! Lately, I’ve been sorting out my mum’s details on her accounts and pension. Today, I got a call from an automated voice claiming to be from Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.
