I got tricked by this as well and ended up paying. They said I needed a monthly cleanup and did it the first time, but when the second month rolled around, they just ignored my calls and emails. No response at all.

Don’t trust them, they claim to be from Microsoft but they’re definitely not. Total scam.

I think this was one of those Microsoft scams. Today, my laptop just froze and a message popped up claiming Microsoft had detected a security issue and locked my device. The message said not to turn off the computer but to call straight away. The number it showed was 0204 587 1207. Freaking out, I did call, but something felt off so I hung up. Then, roughly an hour later, the same number called me back saying they were Microsoft and checking in about my earlier call. I told them the issue was fixed and ended the conversation.
