I was looking into getting my marriage tax rebate but definitely not through this place, they take a whopping 35% cut! Really sneaky how they do it. If you want to claim for free, just call HMRC directly on 0300 200 330 and have your NI number handy when you get through.

I decided to give the number a call and was greeted by a recorded voice saying, "Thank you for ringing in regard to tax allowance awareness. Kindly hold on while we connect you." It was a woman with a distinctly British accent. I'm a bit sceptical, though-whether this really pertains to tax allowances or if it’s just a ploy for someone to earn a commission. Plus, it appears to be a freephone number. How odd!

I’ve got the landline set to always go to answerphone, and it’s ex-directory too. Yet, this morning, some woman rang asking for my missus, mentioning her full name in a really pushy tone. Now, that made me wonder two things: how on earth did they find our unlisted number? And how did they know my partner’s full name? Honestly, it feels like these scammers go to insane lengths to trick you. Just a heads up - we definitely won’t be returning the call. Plus, she didn’t even bother saying who she was, what firm she worked for, or the reason behind the phone call. Proper dodgy!

Got a call from some dodgy call centre, whoever they were after had nothing to do with my number. You could hear a bunch of voices chatting away in the background.

I got a call from a firm that helps retired couples, specifically where the wife isn’t paying any tax, to claim tax rebates. Basically, if the wife isn’t taxed, the husband might be able to use her tax allowance too. This wouldn’t work if the wife is already paying tax, though. From what I gathered, it doesn’t seem like a con - they charge a fee for sorting out the allowance and any unpaid refunds from previous years.

So, I got some texts from 07800 00568 but never replied, then they gave me a ring from 0808 1644907. Since neither number was familiar, I told O2 about it and they ended up blocking them. On Thursday 15th October, I got a call regarding some kind of rebate for married folks. After they asked me some questions, they wanted my National Insurance number, which I didn’t have to hand. The caller said they’d ring back the next day, 16th October. I found it fishy since they never mentioned their company, just kept saying I qualified for a rebate. When they ring again today, I’m just gonna tell them I’m not interested and hang up. Thanks for the heads-up about this. Hopefully, this helps others spot the scam. I got caught out by one of those marriage tax allowance scams. They asked me for my National Insurance number, phone details and even got me to sign something. Seriously, watch out for these - best to just steer clear and ignore them!

A few days ago, I received a call from a woman asking about a marriage allowance claim. It didn't seem like a scam, but I wasn’t in the mood to chat then. I told her to ring me again when I wasn’t busy, as I was working when she called.

There was nothing but loads of noise in the background, no words said at all. I was kind of hoping someone would talk because I enjoy messing about with these scammers. It really annoys them when I do. While I'm having a laugh keeping them busy, at least they’re not calling other people.
