E-On Next seemed pretty genuine. The woman actually checked with me to make sure the account number and contract address matched, and it wasn’t even our main office address. She also emailed scans of the unpaid bills from the same email we usually get them from.

Got an automated ring from Eon-Next telling me to hit 1 to chat with someone. I pressed it, curious, but when they asked for my details after calling me, I said no thanks. Later, I rang Eon myself to check if the call was legit, and turns out it was. I’ve raised a complaint about how dodgy the call sounds, like some scam, and also because they’re pestering me for payment on an invoice I just got, but I’m still waiting on a credit note. We'll see if they bother me again.

I dunno what their scam is because I hang up as soon as it starts. They can get really rude and argumentative too. I get calls nearly every day from someone saying they’re from Eon Next, always asking to talk to the biz owner. When I ask what the call is about, they just say they’ll only chat with the owner and that the call is being recorded. I mess around a bit with them, then ask, since their English is so fluent (with an Indian accent), if they went to university - trying to be all polite and friendly. After that, I ask if they spent all that time studying why they’re scammers and if their folks would be proud of them. The abuse I get back is something else. They’re not from E-on, that’s for sure. I can’t understand why they’re daft enough to keep my number on their list and bother me every day. Shows they’re as thick as bricks and just as dodgy.

Got a couple of calls from an international lady earlier today, 13.10.22. She left a message saying she was calling from something like YONICS and needed to talk about my account. Funny thing, the number showed up as a spam alert on my phone, which made me even more suspicious.

Someone's pretending to be EON but they definitely aren't! They keep ringing up asking for Accounts Payable. I got in touch with EON myself and their phone numbers start with 0345. When I asked a lady there about the 0808-1509004 number, she told me it's not theirs. She even thanked me for letting them know and said she'd report it to her managers.

Someone rang pretending to be from Eon Next about my energy bill. The first time, I played along since I’ve never had an account with them. They didn’t know my name or my company, kept asking for a Mr Jackson. I’m a woman, so it was weird they kept going on like that. They insisted it wasn’t a scam and that I did have an account, but the more questions I threw at them, the more mixed up they seemed. They phoned again a week later and asked for Mr Jackson right away. I just ended the call.

I was watching that show Scam Interceptors on BBC iPlayer, and they mentioned these dodgy calls. If a company rings you up and tells you to press 1, it's almost definitely a scam. They're trying to take over your phone with some kind of broadcast tech. Best thing to do is just hang up straight away.
