10 yearsI got a call from a withheld number on my mobile, and the person said they were from Bank of Scotland. They quickly went into the usual questions about my date of birth and other security stuff. I had recently been dealing with them about a PPI claim, so I found it a bit worrying since everything with the bank had been quite properly handled before. I didn't give out any personal info and the caller told me to visit my local branch to verify the call - problem is, there aren't many Bank of Scotland branches around Essex anyway. After that, I rang the bank directly and they said no one had tried to contact me. Be careful, especially if you’ve recently had a PPI payout. Seems like these scammers are trying new tricks. Also, don't ever ring back on the number they give you from the same phone as the call came in - they keep the line open so you think someone's answered.
