Got a call from a number claiming it was the postcode lottery, sounded very dodgy to me, probably a scam.

I recently received an email claiming that I had won £10. Then, about a week later, I got another email stating that my winnings from the People's Postcode Lottery couldn't be deposited into my account and asked me to call 0808 109 8008 to update my card details. Naturally, I rushed over to the Postcode Lottery website, but to my surprise, there wasn’t a single mention of that number anywhere on the site. The email address I use is exclusively for the Postcode Lottery, which raises the puzzling question of how these "spammers" obtained it in the first place. The number listed on the official website was actually 0808 109 8765, so I decided to give that a ring. I spoke to a lovely lady who clarified that 0808 109 8008 was, in fact, a legitimate number used to route calls properly. While I can appreciate the reasoning behind it, it would surely make sense to have a note on the website-perhaps under “People's Postcode Lottery Payment Options”-to alleviate any doubts. The way we were contacted does nothing but stir suspicion and unease.

It carries the appearance of authenticity, but I’m inclined to think it’s a scam, so I’ll be steering clear of it. I plan to notify PPL about this and I certainly hope others are exercising caution before dialling the number provided.
