This has gotta be a scam. If you have a Virgin Media account and get a call from this number, double check your emails or letters for the correct contact details. I did, and it definitely wasnt from Virgin!!

It was someone from Virgin Media, asking for someone who doesn’t even live at this address. Got almost the same call yesterday and quite a few times before. Honestly, I’m so done with it!

They claimed to be Virgin but wouldn’t share any info. When I tried calling 1471, only a bit of the recorded message came through. I reported it to Virgin, but like usual, they probably won’t bother doing anything about it.

Be careful out there. Scammers nowadays can fake pretty much any phone number from companies that might have your bank info (like standing orders or direct debits). This covers everything from media firms to banks, utility providers, and even Amazon. If you get a call from any business, use your judgement. Listen carefully to what they ask for, and if you’re unsure, hang up, make sure the line’s clear, then ring the company back on the number you have saved. Stay safe everyone!

Got a call from a man with an Indian accent, trying to con my mum for £190.

So, the call I received was actually Virgin Media chasing a payment I owed. They knew the exact balance on my account and never asked for any bank or payment info since I mentioned I'd sort it out next week. The person I spoke with came across as legit, really polite and supportive. Given all that, I'm pretty sure it was the real deal. It’s a bit disappointing hearing about so many bad experiences, but I can honestly say mine was fine.

Someone rang saying they were from virgin tv, saying I missed a payment even though I pay by direct debit. They were really pushy, trying to make me pay with a card instead, claiming my direct debit didn’t go through.

They claimed to be from Virgin Media and sounded pretty legit cause they used the exact same lines as Virgin customer support. They even asked for 3 digits from my password which felt off. My phone actually warned me it might be spam. I threw out some simple questions she should’ve known the answers to without giving away private stuff. No way that was Virgin Media!

Got a call from someone claiming to be Virgin Media. They wanted my card details for a payment, even though my bill is already paid by direct debit and had gone through! I could hear loads of chatter in the background and the caller seemed to be speaking to others during the call. I wouldn’t give them my bank info, but they kept pushing for my card details to take some random payment! Definitely a scam, don't fall for it!

I’m not sure how they found my current number since Ive been with Virgin Media for over 4 years, and I changed my number since then. They’re asking for way too much info and I cant be certain if this number genuinely belongs to Virgin Media.

SCAM - got a call from someone claiming to be Virgin Media (I’ve never even had anything with them) so I told them I wasn’t interested and hung up. Just for a laugh, I called the number back and it plays a recorded message that sounds like Virgin’s actual greeting asking you to press one, which makes it seem legit. But it’s a total con. WATCH OUT!!

Got a call from 08009522044 claiming to be from Virgin Collections. I told the guy to ring me back later. He then said he could pull my info just from my phone number. I gave him my name and most of my number but swapped the last digit. He asked for my password’s 1st and 3rd letters - of course I said yes but asked him to show my info first. He said he had it. I asked how that was possible if I’d changed my number, then the call just cut off. Total scam.

Just got a call from these lot. They couldn't get any of my details right then asked for bank info saying they couldn’t continue without it. Told em I’d report to trading standards cos it seemed fishy and they just said sorry you feel that way and asked for card details again. Best to block and ignore straight away.

Totally a scam. I got a call and when I picked up there was nothing on the line, then they called back saying I owed money but claimed I hadn’t paid, even though I had proof the money came out of my account. I contacted Virgin Media, they said it wasn’t them and I went ahead and changed all my account info.

Got a call from someone saying they were Virgin Media (recorded message). I picked up and the call just dropped with no one there. I rang back, got a recorded message asking if I was the account owner, pressed 1, then got put through. After some hold music, just as I got connected, they hung up again. Still no one at the other end. Very fishy.
