I explained my issue and was told a level 3 technician would ring me shortly, so I gave my phone number. Soon enough, I got a call from someone with an Indian accent who then accessed my laptop remotely. The man said my IP address was hacked and claimed fixing it would cost me £199. I told him I wanted to get more info before paying and he asked me to ring back on 08009173627. That’s when it clicked - Microsoft never charges for support - so I hung up straight away.
