I received a letter stating that I've made an overpayment, and they're requesting that I settle the amount. They've also asked for my card details.

A few days back I got a letter saying I was owed a refund and to ring 08009160651. The letter claimed it was from the Department for Work & Pensions and asked me to provide my bank details to get the refund. I always double check these things nowadays since you have to be cautious, so I’m really glad I did. I’m curious how they managed to get hold of my National Insurance number.

Got a bogus letter pretending to be from the DWP saying I’m due a refund for overpaid benefits, and they wanted my bank info. How do these scammers get my NI number, full name and address? Makes me wonder if our data is really protected by government agencies since they have all our info. Watch out for these!

Dodgy call claiming to be from the DWP, I was about to ring back but decided to check the number first. Bit worrying coz they somehow have my national insurance details!

I recently got a letter purporting to be from the DWP's debt management team, stating that I had outstanding tax dues. It instructed me to ring a certain number. It’s obvious that this is a scam!

Got a letter that seemed proper from the DWP saying my mum owed £480, but something felt off so I checked the postcode and phone number online. Turns out the postcode isn’t real and the phone number brought me here. Total scam, be careful!

At first glance, this seems like an official document, but it's definitely a scam. There's no inked signature or any name to confirm who actually approved it. It uses the DWP logo and my personal info which makes it look real, but it's totally fake. Be careful!

Someone called me claiming to be from the Department of Work and Pensions. Not sure if it was legit or just a scam.

Watch out for DWP scams! I got a letter claiming I owed some tax money, and it looked proper official at first. They wanted me to arrange a direct debit, but the weird thing is, the tax they said I hadn’t paid was from the time I wasn’t even working. It really threw me off, but luckily I spotted something was fishy.

Received a letter from the Dept for Work & Pensions, and it's got everything on it - my full name, address, even my NI number. Honestly, this number is really risky stuff.

Today, both me and my other half got letters through from the DWP asking for money, but the amounts were different for each of us. They came in plain white envelopes. Feels like a total con, but what creeps me out is that they've got our National Insurance numbers!

I got a letter saying I owed money to the DWP, and it included this number as a contact. Thing is, I'm a full-time student with no job, so it doesn’t make sense at all. Pretty confusing situation.

Got a letter myself, came in a plain white envelope and it was meant for my work but somehow ended up with me. I rang back, foolishly gave them my birthday and NI details but then I cut the call before anyone spoke to me. They kept mentioning some account number for payment. Pretty sure its a scam for sure.

I had a similar experience. The letter came in a plain white envelope, not the usual brown one, which made me a bit wary. It accused me of filing a false claim and said I owed more than £1500. Since I'd never made any claim, I decided to look into it. Turns out, both the phone number and the addresses they gave were flagged as scams by others.

Just like everyone else said, the number showed as a genuine NI one. Really pleased I looked it up before calling - what a dodgy scam!

Got a letter that says I owe money to the DWP, but it came in a white envelope. I thought they always send stuff in brown envelopes? Seems fishy. I’m gonna get in touch with the DWP to check if it's legit.

Got a call from 08009160651 claiming to be from the DWP saying I owe them £1900.69. It’s obviously a scam, but how do they have all my info, like my insurance number? Should I be concerned about this or could they somehow reach out to my employer?

Watch out, this is a scam! They somehow got hold of your NI number and job info, then can nick cash straight from your wages. You should definitely get in touch with DWP quick!

My daughter just received a letter about attachment of earnings, it seems genuine with her NI number and employer info included, but there's no prior reference number on it. She tried calling them back, but they started threatening her, which felt really off. I’m pretty sure it’s some kind of scam.

This number shows up as a text phone but when I called 08009160647, I was stuck on hold for ages. Now I'm confused whether the letter I got is legit or not. Don’t really know what to do next.

Got a letter pop up that claims to be from the DWP, and it looks pretty official. It says I owe about £1321.73, and they’ve given me ways to pay it. They warn if I don’t sort it with a direct debit, they’ll go through my employer, and then pass it on to a debt collector. Weird thing is, all the info about me is spot on.

I got a letter claiming I owed £1995.85 which seemed dodgy. So I looked up the phone number and it brought me here. This definitely isn’t from the DWP, so if you get a letter like this, no need to stress.

Got a letter that seemed to be from the DWP, had all my personal info on it even my national insurance number! It looked super official and said I owed £2217.26. I was totally confused because I didn’t recognise any debt like that. I looked up the phone number they gave and stumbled on this site telling me it’s a scam. I’m definitely going to report it to the cops now.
