08009123123 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 08009123123 👆 is reported as the genuine inbound customer service number for Santander UK, commonly found on the back of debit cards, yet it is frequently cloned by scammers. While it is safe to call this number, Santander never uses it for outbound calls. Fraudsters exploit this line to impersonate the bank, often contacting individuals to request sensitive details or prompt fund transfers under the guise of fraudulent activity. Many users warn of sophisticated scams involving texts with one-time passcodes and convincing phone calls demanding personal or banking information. To stay secure, always end unexpected calls claiming to be from Santander, then independently verify by calling the official number on your card or bank statement. Reporting suspicious activity to Action Fraud is strongly advised. Vigilance is essential to avoid falling victim to these scams.

The freephone number printed on the back of my Santander debit card isnt working anymore. I ended up having to ring a different number 0330 9123123, which I reckon will be on any replacement cards now. Looks like this one is a local rate number, so might not cost anything if your phone plan includes free minutes. I also saw on their website that 0800 313 4321 is an alternative freephone you can try.

If you ring up your bank to verify whether the call you got is legit (like mentioned in the post below), the call centre agents can usually tell if the bank is actually trying to get in touch and will put you through to the right place or sort it out for you. Keep in mind, they might not know every single number the bank uses. Even if the call centre says it’s a scam, it doesn’t always mean that the number itself is fake. Spoofing real business numbers is a big issue for companies and their customers alike.

+44 800 912 3123 - SCAM ALERT - I received a one-time code supposedly for ‘Expedia’ along with a phone number to ring back. It looks like it's Santander’s number, but it’s clearly a con. Don’t ring it and make sure to inform Santander if you use them as your bank!

Had two calls in just about an hour. I rang up Santander using the contact details from their legit website and they confirmed it’s a total scam. I put in a report but apparently, there’s not a lot that can be done about it. Looks like these scammers have even posted stuff on this group. It’s for sure a scam but if you’re doubtful, always check with your bank via their official site.

I keep receiving messages supposedly from 'SANTANDER' claiming I've given incorrect info. I really haven’t! The text includes a phone number (08009123123) to ring them on. I wanted to block the sender but can’t seem to locate the number they came from. I got these texts twice on the same day last week. No emails or letters from Santander have come through to confirm any of this, so I’m calling it a SCAM!

I keep getting messages every few weeks saying I’ve reported incorrect details and to call 0800 9123123 or go to a branch. Thing is, I haven’t said anything’s wrong and my info’s all correct, so I reckon they’re just fishing for bank account numbers and sort codes if you ring them up.

SCAM ALERT! My sister just lost £2700 to a scam, they told her to move money to a "safe" new account because of some dodgy activity on her current one. Weirdly, the fraudster had her card number, address and email too. Be really careful with your personal info online, especially on dodgy shops that dont seem truthful about protecting their customers, like Shein. Also, isnt Santander's fraud department meant to be 24/7? We ringed them at 8pm and no one answered so far.

TOTALLY A SCAM, my sister lost £2700, got told to move her money to a "new safe account" because of dodgy spending on her old one. Somehow, the scammer had her card info, address and emails. Seriously, watch who you share personal stuff with online, especially those cheap and dodgy shops that don't care about your safety like Shein. Also, isn't Santander meant to have a 24/7 fraud helpline? We've been trying since 8pm and no one answers!

How often do banks have to say they'll NEVER ring you up out of the blue asking for your details? If you still get tricked, honestly, it’s on you. I’m done feeling sorry for anyone who falls for this scam, it’s just natural selection doing its thing, filtering out the daft ones from the crowd.

This is definitely a SCAM. I received a message from this number pretending to be Santander saying a payment of £1100 to a Mr M Ali had been made. This is a legit Santander contact. Totally fine to pick up, but only if your clued-up on spotting scammers faking this number. You can find tips on that right here. Fraudsters pretending to be from banks is a massive issue for the banks themselves, but an even bigger headache for us customers. How to deal with those spoofed calls? Yeah, that’s covered here too.

These fraudsters acted like they were from the fraud team and sounded pretty convincing too. They even told me to look up the number online to check it was them, but the call was coming from somewhere else completely.

SCAMMERS SCAMMERS! I just hung up and phoned Santander using the number printed on my bank statement. These lot are faking being from Santander Fraud Team. Don't share any details with them, it's a total con!

Got a text from this number saying I needed to confirm a payment of £999.99 taken from my bank. I just ignored it straight away as it seemed dodgy. After that, I got a call from 'No Caller ID' and then another from an 0845 number, both of which I didn't answer. Later, I looked up this number on here to check it out.

Got a voicemail from some bloke claiming he's from Santander's fraud team saying there was a problem with my account. I rang Santander's actual fraud department and they told me no one had tried to contact me, and my account was perfectly fine! They took down the number I was called from to look into it more. Banks wouldn't ring you about this stuff anyway, they'd send something in the post! Never ever give out personal info on the phone!

Someone phoned me concerning my partner’s account, saying there was an attempt to set up £410 at some firm called LTS. I wasn’t impressed by the call. I said we’d visit our branch tomorrow to sort it out. The guy sounded quite shocked, so I just ended the call. Just a heads up, if this was legit, they’d have contacted him directly, not me.

Mate, this number is definitely legit - anyone with a Santander account will recognise it for sure. It’s generally used by members to get in touch with Santander. If you get a call from it, there’s probably a proper reason behind it or you might be waiting for a call from them. Still, since numbers can get used in scams, it’s always best to double-check before picking up.

Totally dodgy. When you ring them back, it just tells you the number is wrong. Anyone saying it’s safe is obviously the con artist.

This phone number really belongs to Santander UK. It's the exact same number you can find on the back of your debit card and also shown on their official website. If you want to be sure, have a look at Santander's official site to double check.

DEFINTELY A SCAM MERCHANT They’re pretending to be Santander using a customer service line, Santander never ring out from this number. Had a call from someone named "Lewis" around 5:15pm on 11/2/21 saying there was a £100 transaction which never happened. Asked me for the 1st, 3rd and 5th digits of my OTP security code, then claimed “oh no, I put one digit wrong so it’s asking for different digits now” COMPLETE RUBBISH, WATCH OUT!!!

IF THIS NUMBER CALLS YOU, IT'S DEFINITELY NOT SANTANDER!! Apparently this number is used for incoming calls from customers, not to ring people out. I got a call from this number and it was a really clever scam (they passed all the security questions and had my info) and even sent me an email about password reset that looked exactly like a real Santander mail. So if they call saying there's been fraud on your account, DON'T trust it. Just hang up and ring Santander directly to be safe.

Got a text saying there was a £374 spend on my card ending in the last 4 digits, supposed to be Argos, from +447754286428. Then I got two calls from the same number. Tried calling back but no answer even after waiting like 30 mins and checking online. Eventually just gave up and ignored it. Could be pretty risky if you answer and believe it, but Santander definitely doesn’t ring from that number - sounds like a scammer’s faked it.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Santander, insisting I’d spent £144 at Argos and that they’d sort it out for me. They kept asking if I was in Manchester or had shopped there, which I hadn’t. They kept talking about how their number was on the back of my card, which sounded fishy. They tried to put me on hold to “look into other transactions” but I just ended the call.

These lot have rung me a few times previously but all turned out to be nothing but dodgy scams. I noticed the calls got more frequent as the COVID-19 situation worsened here. I usually just ignored them or picked up if I was curious, but if they ever start asking for bank info - don’t give anything out. If it was Santander genuinely calling, it’d probably show up as Santander on your phone like it does on mine with caller ID, and they’d ask security questions based on your details, not just jump straight to asking for your bank stuff.

Scam call from someone pretending to be from the bank. The voice was strange, like there was an echo and it almost sounded like they were underwater. They said there had been issues with payments from my Santander account and asked for security info. I hung up straight away, turned my phone off and back on after 10 minutes, then rang Santander myself to check. They said everything was fine with my account.

Have a look at the Santander message above the hotspot map. It tells you pretty much everything, except it doesn’t mention that scammers have cloned all bank phone numbers to trick even those who are cautious. If your bank rings you, pay attention to what they’re asking but don’t say anything. Politely hang up and make sure your line is clear before ringing your bank back using the number on your card. Don’t leave it too long though, in case there’s a problem with your account that needs sorting.
