Yeh, it’s SSE alright. I rang them a bit ago with some questions and now they’re just following up to see if everything was sorted. Nothing dodgy going on, so no need to jump to conspiracy theories. Oh and if anyone in the UK still struggles with phone credit, you should give GiffGaff a look. For £6 a month you get unlimited calls and texts plus 1GB data. I can’t imagine running out now! I called SSE's customer service and honestly, it felt super robotic. This isn’t how you treat customers. Sure, I get that they want to avoid abuse, but it just puts me off from actually taking part in their feedback thing. It makes SSE look pretty cold and uncaring, especially since I have no clue what they'll do with the info. Would much prefer speaking to a real person instead of some monotone android reading from a script.

I got a call from SSE the other day and they told me at the start that they’d ring back to get my feedback. They also said if I didn’t want any more calls, I should let them know. I didn’t mention I didn’t want a callback, so this must be the follow-up that others have mentioned. It’s a bit annoying but not really harassment. If people don’t want these sorts of calls, they should just say so. I simply forgot to say I didn’t want another call. That’s why I’ve marked it as safe.

Got a call from an automated lady saying someone from my number tried to ring them (who even are they?!). First red flag: they never mention their company name. Second red flag: they want you to press keys on your phone! That could trigger huge charges, so DO NOT TOUCH ANY BUTTONS. Just hang up. Unplug your phone from the wall for a couple of seconds, then plug it back in and make sure the dial tone’s back.

This number popped up on my phone about five times right after I’d been on calls with EDF and SSE regarding payments for my solar panel feed-in tariff. So, it seemed legit. Since SSE owes me quite a bit, I tried calling back a few hours later after a missed call from them. But when I rang, they said the survey I was supposed to do wasn’t available anymore - either I’d already done it or it had expired. Feels like these energy firms just want to pretend to be interested in customer feedback for the regulators, but in truth, they’re making it as hard as possible to actually give any.

If I wasn’t the one who’d contacted the water company, I was told to press 1, and if I was, press 2. I refused to press any buttons and just ended the call. Seemed like a proper dodgy scam. I’ve never pressed 1 on these kind of calls before, but I have a feeling it could cost you a fortune!

About three days back, I had a chat with SSE and today I finally submitted a formal complaint online. Since I’d left my number with them, I picked up when they rang. It turned out to be a recorded message from some energy company asking for feedback from a recent call. I just ended the call straight away without hearing any of the options.

Got a voicemail from some energy company I’ve never heard of asking me to join some customer satisfaction survey. The first question was fishy, telling me to press 1 or 2. I just didn’t feel right about it, so I didn’t press anything and ended the call.

Got a recorded call saying it was a survey about energy consumption, sounded pretty dodgy if you ask me. Feels like another one of those scams to me.

0800 8838289 rung me but they didn’t say who they were straight away, just mentioned “we’re the energy company you talked to lately.” I’d already spoken to SSE electric the previous week, so I just hung up and blocked the number.

I got a call from SSE, they rang me the day after just to get me to do a survey. I’ve gone ahead and blocked their number now.

So, I just called SSE to sort out cancelling my gas, electric, and internet and came away pretty frustrated. They kept trying to make me sign up again or switch packages, even though I made it clear I was done. Was a bit of a hassle getting them to confirm everything was actually cancelled in the end.

My phone showed it as maybe spam, but they still left an automated voicemail asking me to ring back and answer some questions about my energy supplier, which I'd actually phoned just the day before. Sounds like a survey firm that does work for a bunch of energy companies to me.

I didn’t pick up cause the number was unknown to me. It went to voicemail and there was this automated message saying I’d been talking to my energy company and to ring 0800 883 8289. Since they didn’t mention which company or give any clear info, I just decided to block the number.

It was really weird, the person on the other end just kept echoing exactly what I said back to me. Proper spooky.

Got a recorded call from some Kirsty at the energy company asking for feedback, even though I hit the hash to opt out! Just best to block it out. These big firms always have rubbish service anyway.

I got a robo call from someone saying, “Hello, this is Kirsty, your local energy advisor,” or something like that. Completely pre-recorded and felt really fake.

Called by some spam number, total waste of time.

Might be SSE calling, but honestly, whoever handles their surveyors needs to get it together. The caller said something like, “this is about your energy provider you spoke to...” isn’t it meant to say “this is SSE”? Seems a bit off to me.

When you ring SSE, an automated voice asks if you'd like to take part in a customer feedback survey later on. It's legit, not one of those scams. They make it clear that if you’d rather not be called back, you should mention it to the representative handling your call. Loads of folks either miss hearing this or forget to say they don’t want to be included in the survey.

I ended up blocking this number on my home phone, but then they rang me on my mobile the very next day. Kirsty Scott just keeps calling and it’s gotten really annoying. So I’ve had to block the number there too now.

I rang SSE yesterday and it was one of those robotic messages. Seems like they're after some feedback or something. From what I read in the comments, they do share your phone number around.

Got a hassle call from SSE, some energy company. Never said it was ok to share my phone number. Since my contract ended, I reckon it’s time to just ignore them and say cheers SSE, you’re not getting any more info from me.

I usually don't pick up calls from numbers I don't recognise, but I always look them up on Who-called. After seeing all the comments about this number, I've decided to block it as well. Cheers to everyone who’s shared their experiences about these annoying calls!
