PHONE 0800 856 5871 9/7/19: Got a call today from a lady who spoke English but I could barely understand her. Took some effort to make her talk clearer, and then she was offering a deal for puzzle books for £1 upfront, then £39.99 every six months. When she asked for my bank details, I just said “I’ll call you back” and ended the call. Very fishy if you ask me. She mentioned something like Abacus as the company name.

I recently found myself signed up for a couple of magazine subscriptions at a staggeringly low rate. The chap claimed he got my information when I signed up for The Week magazine, which, in my foolishness, made me comfortable enough to divulge my bank info. 08008565871 rang me claiming I'd taken part in a survey (which I actually did - regret it now tho) and said they’d send a crossword mag for £1. Then apparently I could get a 6 month subscription for £39.99. When he asked for my email, I fibbed and said I didn’t have one. I told him I’d send a cheque for the £1 but he then asked if I had my cheque book ready and wanted my sort code and account number! I told him no and that I wasn’t interested in the crossword mag at all!

They told me it was just a quid for a magazine, yeah right! Tried to take £39 out every month, I cancelled it but they keep ringing anyway.

I just called them back and hit 1 to block their number, seemed to do the trick.

Didn’t pick up. About a week back I signed up for a supposedly free gift, but 10 minutes in they kept probing with really personal questions, so I just shut the site. Wish I hadn’t given my phone number at all. Since then, I get like 20 to 30 calls daily from all sorts of numbers. Looking them up here, most say they’re from magazine sales, energy companies, phone deals or straight up scams. Not one has been tagged as ‘delivering a free TV’ or something legit, so I’m just gonna keep letting them ring out.

So, I went ahead and shared my sort code and account number because she claimed it would just be a quid taken out. Now I'm a bit worried since they've got my address too, and I'm not sure if I'm about to get ripped off. Fingers crossed nothing dodgy happens!

On the 5th of April 2019 at around 16:14, I picked up but there was nothing, no one talking. I tapped the phone a few times and even tried whistling, but still no response, so I just ended the call.

For the past couple of days, I had been inundated with calls from this particular number until I finally decided to answer. It appears they must have snatched my number from a giveaway I entered a while back. The chap on the other end claimed to be affiliated with the company and asked for my opinions. Then, he tried to persuade me into purchasing a similar product at a slight cost. Curious, I looked up the product he mentioned and, lo and behold, it turns out it’s available for free on their official site! Quite the cheeky tactic, I must say!

Got three calls from them over just a couple days. When I rang them back, I got a voicemail and they said to hit 1 to make sure they take your number off their list.

They've been ringing me a bunch over the last two days but I never picked up. Tried looking for a way to block the number on my phone but couldn't find any option for call blocking!

I called the number back and pressed 1, it only took a moment and now they’ve stopped ringing me up. Definitely worth trying if you wanna get off their call list quickly!

Even though I've blocked this number so it won't actually ring, it still keeps showing up on my call list every single day 😤

I got a call from this number and it turned out to be Adicus, they deal with magazines. If you don’t pick up but decide to ring back, you’ll hear a recorded message. You can actually press 1 on that message to take yourself off their calling list.

My mate has dealt with this company before; they sell magazines but can be quite pushy.

Estate agents? Honestly, they’re just the worst kind of people you can come across. Absolutely bottom of the barrel, in my opinion.

For once, I’m actually listening to my phone’s warning not to pick up, so I’m staying quiet :) I’ve switched off my voicemail too, so no chance of a message being left. Only two calls have come through all day, fingers crossed they lose interest before I do!
