The Royal College of Nursing somehow gave my info to this firm, trying to make me restart a direct debit I already cancelled. Proper annoyed with RCN for that. Ended up blocking their number.

Looks like this is someone cold-calling on behalf of RCNi pushing subscriptions for a magazine. They’ve rung me up loads of times while I’m at work - really annoying! I wouldn’t expect a professional body like the RCN to use these kinds of methods. As an RCN member, I’ll be sure to let them know what I think.

Check out the remarks from 17/07/19 and 18/07/19, it’s really about signing up for RCN Journals. From what folks are saying, they can be a bit too persistent, but the person I had a chat with was alright.

They’ve been ringing me daily for a whole week, sometimes a couple of times each day; they never leave a voicemail, and I’m not bothering to answer. When I tried calling back, there was a recording saying it was from something called RCNI, and if you want your number taken off their list, press 1 - sounds like a typical scam to me, probably could end up costing you loads. I have no clue what RCNI is, but a quick search showed it stands for the R#### Crisis Network of Ireland!

Just like any usual scam call, it rang a few times then suddenly stopped. I’ve never had any connection with RCN, so it’s odd why they’d ring me. I’m registered with TPS and MPS and I’m really cautious about these things. I’m pretty sure it’s a fake number being used for a scam.

RCN's FAQ says that to make sure a call's legit, they only use one phone number: 0800 856 5860. Whoever rings you will say they're calling on behalf of RCNi and can check your RCN membership number with you. They don’t have access to your bank details for these calls, so if you want to go ahead with anything, you'll need to set up a new Direct Debit yourself. Make sure you have your sort code and account number ready, and you need to be the one who can approve payments from the account. The callers will never ask for your card’s CVC, expiry date, or the long card number on the front.

08008565860 called me, so I reached out to RCN HQ to check it out. They said it was an outside agency trying to get members to sign up for some professional development stuff. They told me if I felt like I was being pressured, I should complain to them. I told them that wasn’t acceptable because they’ve shared my personal info without my consent. Honestly, I’m not pleased at all.

Got a call from someone claiming they were with RCN offering a promo deal to help with revalidation, said it’d be £1 a month for the first couple of months then jump to £11. It took me by surprise since I’d just finished work, but then they asked for my sort code and bank details - that’s when I knew it was dodgy.

Got a call from this number claiming to be the RCN (Royal College of Nursing). The woman on the line spoke with an Indian accent and you could tell she was in a noisy office, loads of background sounds.
