I got a ring from someone claiming to be Barclays. The voice was quite friendly, saying they just wanted to make sure my account was all good. We didn't manage to catch the call either time as we were too slow to pick up. I did a 1471 check and noticed that this number attempted to contact us on two occasions this evening, but oddly, no message was left behind.

Barclays Bank, it seems, has taken to dialing us up out of the blue, ostensibly to check in and perhaps have a chat about our accounts. I can only imagine they’re eager to pitch us something or other. To be honest, we’ve always managed to cut these calls short before they get anywhere. Cold calls are not our cup of tea! Tried answering a call on our landline, but as soon as we picked up, they hung up. It was infuriating! Today, 27/08/15, I got a call from this number claiming to be Barclays bank. They were talking about some new easier way to use the internet with Barclays. Then they tried to get my date of birth to “verify” I was the account holder. I told them straight up I don’t share any bank info on the phone. Next, the caller asked if I could give part of my account number and sort code to prove who she was. I said no way. She just said 'have a nice day' and hung up. I rang Barclays myself afterwards and they said it was definitely a scam. Total fraudsters!
