While I was at a client's place, they pitched me on advertising in their so-called Retired Police magazine. Foolishly, I thought it might be a decent opportunity, especially as I had just gone fully self-employed. I paid up, like a complete numpty. Now, they've had the nerve to call me again, demanding even more money if I want to keep my 'slot'. When I refused to carry on, they had the audacity to claim I’d entered a 'verbal agreement', which is utter nonsense. First off, for any verbal agreement to hold, a service must actually be rendered, and they've delivered precisely nada. And as for this ‘community magazine’, who do they think they are to strong-arm people into phoney contracts?
