10 yearsSomeone pretended they were from a police magazine, but it was clearly a scam.10 yearsI got a call from someone claiming to represent a police magazine, but it turned out to be a total rip-off trying to trick you into paying for some fake advertising. Be careful with these sorts of calls!10 yearsBack in April or May these dodgy scammers managed to take £102 from me. I was at a client’s house doing actual work (unlike these lot who just rip people off) when they tried to get me to place an ad in some “Retired Police” magazine. I’d just gone fully self employed and thought it was worth a shot. Like a numpty, I paid up. Now they’ve called again wanting more cash to keep the ad going. When I told them I wasn’t interested they claimed I’d agreed to a ‘verbal contract’ - total rubbish. For a start, a verbal contract requires a service to be supplied, which they haven’t done, and secondly, threatening folks over some ‘community’ mag is just not right. Best advice? Just ignore them or better yet, tell them you’ll be reporting their scam!Retired Police magazine10 yearsA caller presenting themselves as a representative from a police magazine, supposedly linked to the administrative side of a police office, attempted to solicit £200 from me.10 yearsI'm absolutely thrilled to hear this! We're just about ready to ring them up and settle the bill!Submit Your Own Report (0800 825 0091)
