Got a message sayin my PC was infected with the ZEUS virus and was told to call the same number listed here. But since I already have anti-virus software, I didn’t bother ringin 08008021308. The warning wouldn’t close no matter what I did, so I just restarted my computer and that made the message disappear.

Got a message pop up saying my PC had the ZEUS virus so it told me to ring the same number, 08008021308. I didn’t call though as I’ve got antivirus software on my laptop. The warning wouldn’t close no matter what I did, so I just switched the computer off and restarted it, that got rid of the annoying message.

Earlier this week, my elderly mum fell victim to one of these scams. I only found out when she messaged me, saying she’d spent a couple of hours on the phone with someone trying to fix a supposed ‘virus’ on her computer. The usual spiel - a blank screen and a woman’s voice yelling about a virus and telling her to ring a certain number. Sadly, she did call, but luckily she doesn’t keep any banking info or cards online, so no money was stolen. She couldn’t get the computer to turn off either. She’s now a bit scared to use her laptop again. People doing this stuff are just awful and seriously need to be stopped.

Turned my computer on and suddenly a woman’s voice started yelling that I shouldn’t use my PC or do any online shopping because there was supposedly a virus on it. She gave a phone number, 0800 802 1308, to call. Since I have a virus scanner active, I knew straight away it was a scam. The only way to stop the noise was to switch the computer off completely.

Be careful, there's a scam going around linked to a Microsoft "error code S1L457" alert popping up. Definitely don't ring them back.

Could you please forward this complaint to the appropriate folks? I’m quite sure this is a scam. If you have a number for a phone or cyber fraud helpline, I’m willing to get in touch with them. Thanks a lot.

I couldn’t get it to delete no matter what, so I just switched the computer off in the end. I actually called the number back and they asked me to give them access so they could “sort it out.” I wasn’t having any of it though and told them I needed to check their credentials first. The guy then mentioned their website was www.easypechi (!!!!!). Obviously, that site doesn’t even exist. It really made me feel anxious and worried, especially considering how easy it would be for older people to get tricked. Glad I didn’t get caught out!

Watch out, this is totally a con. A sudden alert pops up sayin' your computer is infected with some virus called ZEUS, and it’s compromising your personal info. There's even a voice telling you this. Don't give them the chance to get into your machine. They'll try to charge you to fix this so-called virus.

Got a warning on my laptop saying I’d been hacked. Foolishly gave them access through screen sharing. After a bit, they claimed they could fix a virus but asked for £119.99. Pretty sure I’ve fallen for a scam here.

I was just browsing the web when out of nowhere, an automated message popped up warning me about a Zeus virus on my computer. It told me to ring the number above straight away and warned me against shopping online until I’d got in touch. They even gave me a code to quote as a reference. Bit creepy if you ask me!

A message claiming to be an “Emergency” number flashed up on my screen, stating that my system was compromised and urging me to phone for assistance. Does anyone know who this could be?
