Yeah, its really the CSA behind this, just had a chat with them. Seems like over the last 20 years with several systems in place, even when the absent parent has been paying, the money isnt always been given out properly! So now theyre sorting it out. I found the CSA number on the .gov site, picked the option about cases something like before 2003 I think, then got transferred to the team in Scotland who confirmed everything for me.

I got a call from a quite pushy woman asking to speak with someone who wasn't in. She wouldn't say who she was or what company she worked for, just said it was a 'personal business issue' and that they'd be sending a letter. It rings three times and then goes silent. I tried ringing the number back, but all I got was a recorded message saying they’d get in touch later. I spotted mentions on this thread that it could be related to collections. Either way, it’s not right that they can cold call and then not return a call. I’ve no debts, so I made sure to block the number after confirming.

It appears to be the Child Support Agency from the DWP. There's absolutely no need to involve the police. They've been contacting me regarding my child support situation, so there's no cause for concern; it’s all perfectly legitimate. I’d highly recommend giving them a ring back, as it could be quite significant. I had a similar experience, and when I finally reached out to them, I discovered there were several hundred pounds waiting for me from my ex due to arrears in child maintenance. It might just be some back payments from a previous CSA case you had, or if you've got a child but don't live with them, they might want to discuss child maintenance payments with you. I’m not sure if you can call this number back, but if you happen to live in Leicester, the CSA number you’ll need is 0345 609 0062. There are different contact numbers for various regions. I recommend you get in touch as soon as possible. Hope this proves to be useful! ;)

Yesterday, whilst I was busy at work, I received a call from this number. Unfortunately, I couldn't answer it at the time. They left a voicemail urging me to return the call, mentioning something about having my national insurance number handy, and that it was from the DWP. However, when I dialled the number they provided, I ended up speaking to Sacred Heart instead. A quick search of the number they used led me to this website. Quite the mix-up, if you ask me!

So, I had a rather dodgy experience with a call from someone claiming to be from the CSA DWP, stating I had an outstanding balance owed to the Secretary of State for an ancient CSA case from years back. They mentioned I could get a 25% discount if I settled the debt immediately, but when I probed a bit further about security checks - like my date of birth or National Insurance number - they abruptly cut the line. Definitely felt like a scam to me!

For instance, if you search for something like 08007838527, you might also pop in 0800 7838527 or even 0800 783 8527. You’ll be surprised at what Google throws your way, such as forums related to benefits and work. Don’t forget to mix it up with formats like 0800-7838-527 too. It’s all about casting a wider net!

I got a call from this number quite late, around 9 pm. They left a voicemail claiming to be from the DWP, saying they needed to discuss something private and confidential with me. They provided an 0845 number for me to return the call, but I’ve attempted to reach them three times today, and each time, there’s been no one on the line! Quite suspicious, if you ask me!

In fact, it has all the indicators of a phishing scam, so the wisest course of action would be to simply disregard the call entirely.
