I got a letter claiming to be from "BT" about broadband Universal Service, saying they might pay up to £3400 ex VAT to help upgrade the local network. It had this 0800 783 0223 number to call, and they promised an estimate within 30 days or so, signed off as "the BT team". But the letter looked kinda sketchy, with weird links like bif###]/uso thrown in. Feels dodgy to me... Is this for real? I'm pretty sure it's a scam.

They wanted to charge me £69,000 just for upgrading my internet! Absolutely ridiculous.
