5 yearsFraudulent Message from Metro Bank: I received a text asking if I attempted to make a payment of £199.99 to Argos at 15:03 on the 17th of November. I was instructed to text back "Y" if I'd done so, or "N" if I had not. The number provided was +44 7541 429097. Shortly after, a man rang me from 0800 781 1493, professing to be with the Metro Fraud Intervention team. He informed me that my card had been linked to two substantial transactions in Liverpool. The caller proceeded to interrogate me with several “identity” queries, mentioning that the conversation would be recorded for investigation. He claimed there was a freeze on these transactions and urged me to check my account balances via the Metro app. He then inquired about my other banking affiliations.
