My elderly mum, who’s 89, ended up falling for this scam. She handed over her card info and they managed to steal £84.99 from her. I’ve called the numbers listed on their site but unsurprisingly, no one picked up. I’m going to get in touch with our bank to try and stop them from taking any more cash. It’s just not right - my mum’s vulnerable and these crooks should be stopped from preying on people like her.

Just seen that this outfit called "cold call elimination ltd" got hit with a £75,000 fine for being super pushy with cold calls. Looks like their luck has run out, poor things. Also heard their usual 0800 number isn’t working properly anymore, so they're now pushing this other one: 01243 885 885 - watch out for it!

My elderly mum ended up getting caught out by this lot and ended up handing over £90 on her credit card. Right after she did it, she felt awful about giving her info over the phone. I got her a new phone with Call Guardian set up, and since then loads of dodgy calls have been blocked - it's obvious Cold Call Elimination is just a scam. Now she’s constantly stressing that they might have her card details and could try to charge her more money, which she really can't afford.

I foolishly signed up to pay £29.99 for four months with this so-called Cold Call Elimination Team. They told me to ring them if I kept getting annoying calls. For about two months, no bother, then suddenly a few calls came through from the same number. So I contacted them again. They assured me I'd get 'The Call Blocking Guardian' gadget within three to five working days. Well, it's been four weeks and three more calls later, still nothing. I’ve tried ringing 08007797788 several times recently, but each time a woman’s voice says the 'number isn't registered, please try again later'. And guess what? Today I got yet another unwanted call from a different number. Looks like their blocking service has completely stopped working!

She’d been put on the TPS list by my brother just days earlier, so she thought this call was related to that. A young woman named Daisy convinced her that the service wasn’t free and she had to pay for it, so she gave her card details. It’s horrible - looking at past reviews, it seems they target older ladies and try to scam them out of their savings. Pretty sure they won’t be advertising that on their website anywhere!

I was with my mum when she got a call from this company, and I was a bit suspicious at first. I asked loads of questions, and they actually came across as quite trustworthy. They never asked for my mum’s sensitive bank info, and we got all the paperwork through the post. I even raised the issue about the bad reviews and people saying it’s a scam. They told me their calls are recorded, and staff always make it clear folks agree to pay £84.99 for three years, so if anyone’s confused, that’s on them. Since then, my mum’s nuisance calls have stopped completely, and she’s proper relieved and happy now - so am I. loads of people seem to think the TELEPHONE PREFERENCE SERVICE is like a wonder that stops telemarketers dead in their tracks, but really it’s just a register that UK marketing firms are meant to check before ringing you up. it doesn’t do anything against calls from abroad, so if the call is from overseas it’ll still come through. honestly, the best way to avoid those annoying calls is to use a good call blocking device set up properly.

She even got mum to give her credit card info, like the number on the back, and asked how much money was in her account. When mum rang back to cancel the deal, Alice was nowhere to be found. She tried again later but it was the same story. Luckily, mum realised the dodginess and rang the bank straight away to cancel her cards, though it was a bit of a hassle. This number rang my place and ended up talking to my partner, offering to end all our cold calls for just £1.99 monthly. Sadly, my partner gave out the last three digits of our shared debit card. When I rang the company to find out what was going on, they said they'd charge £84 upfront and then £1.90 a month afterwards. I made it clear I didn't want anything and told them I’m the account holder on the phone line. The person then claimed they’d destroy the paperwork, but I was really annoyed they asked for our card details like that. They said everything would be scrapped, but honestly, I’m not so sure. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

Yesterday, we had a call from someone claiming to be Phil, part of a BT Cold Call Blocking Group, using the number 01243 885885. He told us he knew we were getting nuisance calls from abroad and offered to stop them for £1.49 a month. I stupidly gave him my credit card info, but just a couple of hours later, he rang back saying the paperwork was done and the charge was actually £84. When I questioned the price, he said he'd check with Phil and I told him to cancel the deal. He promised to call back but never did, so we ended up cancelling the card payment ourselves. Today, my daughter in Dubai couldn't get through as the line kept sounding busy, even though no one was using it. I always thought giving credit card details on the phone was a no-no, but this scam really caught us out. Now we're worried if my daughter in Australia will also have problems trying to call us. I got a call from a really polite young lady who said she could stop unwanted calls, even ones from India! She mentioned it’d be £1.90 a month plus VAT, for 3 years, and after that it’d be free. She gave me a few different payment options, but I opted to pay £84.99 in one go on my debit card. About an hour later, she rang again to make sure I was happy with the decision - I said yes. The payment went through as agreed and that’s been it. Since I paid back in December 2014, I haven’t had a single cold call. Honestly, if you pay for a service and it’s actually delivered, how is that a scam? Like when you pay your hairdresser after a cut - are they ripping you off? Great service from my experience!

Last evening my mum got a call from some lot claiming to be from BT, which obviously wasn't the case. Thankfully, since she doesn't handle the bills, she didn’t give them her card info. They were trying to sell a service for £5 a month or, get this, pay for three years upfront and it would drop to £2 a month. But doing the sums, that comes to £84.99 - makes no sense! I’ve gone ahead and reported these scammers to Action Fraud earlier today.

My partner got a call from someone named Chris, claiming to be from Coldcall Elimination. He said they could block all those annoying spam calls. The price was supposed to be £1.90 each month or a one-off £84.99 for 3 years, and then no charge after that. Now, I’m no expert but 36 months times £1.90 works out to about £68.40, which is quite a bit cheaper than the 3-year total they mentioned. I’m really upset with this company. They did the same to my mum - she ended up paying twice and got two of these devices sent out. Neither worked properly because she couldn’t get caller ID on her phone. They claimed she hadn’t sent the first one back, but I used signed-for delivery and tracked it, so I know for sure they received it. Thankfully, my mum’s bank put a halt to the direct debit, and she managed to get a full refund in the end. I still can’t understand why they sent two devices and messed up the direct debit in the first place. Just had to get that off my chest!

My mum went through the exact same nonsense. I've already told Trading Standards about it and I'm currently drafting a letter to complain - what a ridiculous scam. I have a strong feeling they’re using an illegal database to get phone numbers, probably connected to timeshare scams. Look, if you say yes to buying something over the phone, you're expected to pay for it. The moment they ask for your bank card details, folks jump to the conclusion it's a scam, probably coz they don't really understand how bank cards work! It's not a rip-off if you get the stuff you agreed on and they only charge you what you said yes to. All these complaining people probably never even got the service!

I got a phone call from someone named Amanda claiming to be with TP management. She told me she could stop nuisance calls for £2 a month over three years, or a lump sum of £84.99. Amanda said she'd send a welcome pack through the post but asked for the 16-digit number on my card first. When I mentioned she might just be another nuisance caller herself, she gave me a company registration number: 08388416, and said her son was a barrister! She also told me to dial 1471 to get her direct number, which came up as 01243885972. If this isn’t a scam, why wouldn’t they send the welcome pack first so you can decide before handing over your card details? I don’t trust cold callers at all - had bad experiences before.

Got a ring from this number and the guy said his name was Ben Burges, claiming he was with TPS. He started off saying there’s a free call blocker available, but then suddenly mentioned it’d set me back £1.95 a month for three years. He said it’d stop nuisance calls from abroad and locally as well. There’s also a blacklist feature where you press a button if a call gets through, and supposedly it shares that info across all their devices. Sounds a bit off, though - why pay if some calls are still going to come through? When I rang their number back, the message just said, “Thank you for calling the Cold Call Elimination Team.” Bit suspicious if you ask me.

Got a call from someone named Shalene on 08007797788 claiming to be from something called TELEPHONE PRIVACY SERVICE. She insisted it was linked with BT and said they were reaching out because our area had seen a rise in annoying calls - which is definitely true. For £2 each month over three years, capping at £75, they promised to block all these pest calls way better than the usual Telephone Preference Service. She also mentioned they’d take troublemakers to court and that this protection lasted a lifetime. The catch was they’d only send a Welcome Pack if you agreed to the monthly fee. I’ve since emailed the official TPS and after digging a bit, it looks like this is just another scam.

Just a heads up, this isn't BT at all! They're trying to charge you £74.99 to stop annoying calls, but honestly, BT and the TPS offer services that cover most of that for free. Don't get tricked by these!
