I’ve just had a rather unsettling phone call from someone claiming to represent Aviva, regarding an accident I supposedly had. I promptly questioned their authenticity as I’ve never been involved in such an incident, and their response was quite aggressive. They had the audacity to say that Barclays had passed on my information, which is utterly ridiculous since I don’t even bank with them. Honestly, folks, beware! This is definitely not a legitimate call from Aviva.

0800 774 6641 - Classic crash scam call. I had a blast messing about with the bloke. Gave him all the wrong answers and kept him chatting for half an hour. When he wanted my postcode, I told him W1A 1AA - you know, Buckingham Palace! He just cut me off. Proper cheeky, especially as I was just getting into it and trying to make the day less dull.

Somebody rang me saying they were from Aviva Insurance, about a payout for a crash supposedly within the last three years, though Aviva ain't my insurer. Even though I was totally suspicious, I kept him chatting for about 12 minutes before he finally hung up - longest I've ever kept one on the line. Fingers crossed this stops them ringing others who might actually fall for it.
