Phone number ☎️ 08007310160 👆 is reported as a contact number linked to letters claiming to be from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) regarding winter fuel payments. Many users warn these letters appear fraudulent, featuring incorrect or mismatched personal details like National Insurance numbers and bank account digits, raising concerns of scams aiming to extract sensitive information. However, some individuals confirm the number is legitimately connected to the official winter fuel payment team and found their enquiries handled effectively. Caution is strongly advised before calling; official communications from DWP typically do not request bank details or National Insurance numbers by phone. Verifying any correspondence directly through government websites or official channels is recommended to avoid falling victim to potential scams.

7 monthsGot a letter claiming to be from the DWP, signed off as ‘The Winter Fuel Team’. The number they gave was 08007310160. The letter had my house address on it, but wasn’t meant for me. I’ve lived here for more than 30 years. After chatting with my son, we reckoned it was a total scam. They said they’d already paid £100 to some bloke, but now wanted to send £200 more, though the bank details were wrong. They told me to call that number if there were any issues. I didn’t ring and just binned the letter straight away.DWPThe Winter Fuel Team9 monthsGot a message about updating my address for the winter heating allowance - definitely a con!3 yearsGot a letter claiming to be from the DWP saying I’m due a winter payment, even showing the last 4 digits of an account. But then it says the number they called isn’t mine and gives some dodgy phone number called ‘Ives’. This smells like a total scam to me. The DWP already pay my pension straight into my own account, so they’d know the right details. Don’t trust it!DWP3 yearsGot a letter from the DWP about a £500 fuel payment. They nailed my National Insurance number but got the last 4 digits of my bank account wrong. It looked legit at first. Weird coz they should have the right bank info since my pension goes in every month without any issues. Just a heads up to stay cautious.DWP3 yearsWe got a letter through the post saying it was from the DWP about a £500 winter fuel payment. It looked proper official at first glance. But the name on it wasn’t ours, plus it had some NI number and bits of bank account info that seemed dodgy. I reckon it’s some kinda scam where they want us to call them up, maybe pretending to sort it out, but really trying to grab our own personal info during the chat. Definitely dodgy if you ask me.Department for Work and PensionsNational Insurance3 yearsConcerning the winter heating allowances provided by the Government of the United Kingdom.GovernmentUnited Kingdom4 yearsI got a letter that looked like it came from the DWP, but the NI number and date of birth were completely wrong. I was really worried it might be a scam. After reading this, I’m relieved I didn’t ring the number because it definitely seems dodgy.DWPNational Insurance4 yearsI tried this number out and it really is genuine. They helped me sort out my issue super fast. Definitely a solid 10/10 from me!5 yearsHonestly, it's kind of silly - if you check the official government site, this number is definitely the legit one for winter fuel payments!5 yearsGot a letter that was trying to trick my aunt into handing over her bank and national insurance info. It’s really alarming coz her actual national insurance number was right there on the scam letter!5 yearsThey claimed to be deo on the documents, which felt a bit sketchy to me.5 yearsJust got a call from some pension advice people telling me my late dad was owed a winter fuel payment. Bit strange since he’s passed away, right? Not sure what they want with me now.6 yearsjust rang this number a bit ago, turns out it’s the dwp’s winter fuel payment team. they sorted out my question really well and everything’s been sorted now.DWP6 yearsI got an email telling me to ring this number and give my NI number so I could get the winter fuel payment. It said it was from the DWP? But I don’t qualify for that money anyway.National InsuranceDWP6 yearsGot a letter claiming it's from the DWP, but it looks nothing like the letters I've got before. They're asking for my NI number, which they've always included themselves in past letters. Seems dodgy to me, so I’m not going to call the number they gave, 08007310160. Feels a bit off.DWPNational Insurance6 yearsThey asked me for my national insurance number even tho I’m sure the DWP already has that info on file.
