Yesterday (6/3/18), one of our internal team got a call from this number. The person claimed to be from BT and mentioned our broadband contract was about to expire, giving a reference code. But the university runs its own network, and BT doesn’t handle home broadband for us. Just out of curiosity, I called the number back early this morning at 7:25 am (7/3/18). A recorded message said I was connecting to an advisor! BT open that early? Seems strange. I reckon the solution team is still checking this out with contacts at BT.

Yesterday, we received a contact from someone claiming to have my complete name and BT broadband business account numbers, which we were totally unaware of. Since our offices are not subscribed to BT broadband, it was evident that this was a scam. It is essential for everyone to remain cautious!

I just received a call on my mobile from the number 0800 731 0114. The person claimed to be from BT, but something felt off about the conversation. Instead of addressing me by my title and surname, she used only my first name. Additionally, she tried to confirm her legitimacy by mentioning the last 3 digits of my business landline. However, I remained cautious and asked her to provide my account number for verification. To my surprise, she responded by asking me which account number I was referring to, even though I have only one with BT. I expressed my skepticism and emphasized that I wouldn't provide any personal information. I explained that many fraudulent individuals try to pose as reputable companies, so it was essential for her to confirm my account number in order for us to proceed with the conversation. In response, she agreed, said thank you, and promptly ended the call.

I’ve experienced something similar myself. Recently examined our latest bill and discovered we've settled up until February. I attempted to get in touch with the number that a lady from abroad provided, claiming she was based in Romford, but it went unanswered - I had my number withheld, mind you. It’s starting to feel like this might be a ploy to lure us into switching to a different broadband supplier, but I can’t quite put my finger on which one they’re targeting us with.

The firm in question is DMSL, and they happen to be BT's leading partner. They've got their own website showcasing the names of all their staff. A couple of weeks back, I switched my BT broadband service to their capable hands, and I must say, everything has gone without a hitch. Within 48 hours of our conversation, I received a confirmation email. They even took the time to furnish me with important details, including my account number and address. Every query I had was answered right away, and I was fortunate to speak with someone based in the UK. I’ve placed my trust in DMSL, and I believe you can do the same!

This appears to be a number belonging to BT. Should you have any questions later on, it might be worth requesting the caller's Employee Identity Number (EIN) - a unique identifier issued only to BT staff. If they seem hesitant or unable to provide it, don't hesitate to request to speak with their supervisor. Cheers!

I've been receiving a fair few calls from this lot lately. A chap named David has been especially insistent. They claim to be affiliated with BT during their conversations, but they're not actually BT. After some digging, it appears they operate under the name Direct Market Services Limited (Company no. 0344855) and act as a sort of agent for BT. While they seem to be a legitimate business, it's concerning how they try to leverage the BT name to give the impression of security to unsuspecting customers. What's particularly troubling is that they had an alarming amount of information regarding our BT account. This suggests that BT is perhaps sharing sensitive details with these so-called 'agents,' which strikes me as quite reckless. Ultimately, it’s your choice if you wish to engage with a company that lacks the integrity to be transparent about their true identity. As for us, we’ll definitely be steering clear.

I recently received a similar phone call from a chap named Chuck. When I inquired about a precise renewal date, he couldn't seem to give me a definitive answer. Instead, he handed out a phone number along with a reference number that doesn't even match a BT reference! Quite puzzling, I must say!

Complete madness. I've lodged a complaint with BT because these individuals claim to work for them. They even answer their phone saying "BT sales, can I help you." To make matters worse, they attempted to convince me to upgrade my account without realizing that I had another 13 months left in my contract. Utterly absurd! I've been contacted six times already and I'm still waiting for the promised email information. It's become obvious that they are untrustworthy since the email never arrived.

I recently received an extremely aggressive phone call from this company. It seems that they are a reseller of BT products, but based on the way my contract has been handled, I don't think they have accurate information about when it is due for renewal. I have requested multiple times that they remove my number from their database, and I have also warned them that any further calls will be considered as harassment. Unfortunately, I doubt they will stop calling, but if we all mention this issue when we receive a call, we can build a stronger case with the authorities.

Just got off the phone with Ams! - they handle business accounts for BT. I just switched mine over, but everything stayed with BT, and it actually ended up a bit cheaper. The whole thing went smooth, and the call centre staff were proper English speakers, which was a nice change!

I had a similar experience where my broadband contract was nearing its end. When I inquired, the person on the phone assured me that they were BT. They even claimed to have a BT ID number, although I became hesitant and questioned their authenticity. I was put on hold momentarily, and when they returned, they provided an ID number that somewhat resembled BT employee IDs. However, I would strongly advise against contacting this telephone number.

Utter charlatans! There's clearly an attempt to mask the truth with misleading comments claiming authenticity. These folks are not from BT at all, despite their insistence. Numerous times, I queried them, "Are you employed by British Telecommunications?", and every time they squirmed out with a “yes, we represent BT” but dodged mentioning the full name, even though their English was spot on. Out of morbid curiosity, I decided to play along. They didn’t even have my number right-something I easily verified-yet they bizarrely wanted to ask me "Who is your broadband provider?" for security, which is quite frankly absurd. At the end, they requested my email address. I suggested they check their records instead, and when they probed me about a BTconnect address, I just went along with it. Funnily enough, I never received any order confirmation-they seemed stumped on the full email. When I called back, there wasn’t even a proper automated system; it was answered directly-something absolutely unheard of with genuine BT services. Take no notice of the prior comment; it’s a smokescreen from the same dodgy crew trying to save their skins. A legitimate BT worker would always be forthcoming about their identity!

Beware and be cautious of persistent individuals who claim to represent BT, but in reality, they are scammers seeking to deceive you for personal gain. These fraudulent individuals operate on a commission-based scheme and lack any information related to your BT account. They exhibit aggressive behaviour to pressure unsuspecting victims. It is essential to block their calls immediately and get in touch with BT directly to report the incident. Be wary of their tactics.

I recently received a rather peculiar phone call from a woman who had an accent that sounded distinctly Chinese or Korean. She informed me that our 'BT contract is nearing its conclusion' and inquired whether we’d like to 'make some updates.' When I probed her about the source of the call, she was quite dismissive, questioning, 'What difference does my location make?' After a bit of back-and-forth, she reluctantly disclosed she was calling from 'Bromford - Essex.' She left the number 0800 731 0114 along with a reference before abruptly hanging up. What a right palaver!

I just had a rather dubious phone call while in the conservatory from someone claiming to be from "BT", informing me that our broadband contract is set to expire soon. They were eager to present me with an irresistible offer - a reduced monthly fee along with complimentary calls to landlines. The caller then suggested that I would need to be transferred to a colleague to secure this "amazing deal" and that I ought to provide my direct debit information right then and there! Sounded perfectly legitimate, but I outright refused to disclose any personal details over the phone. After a brief exchange, she handed me a phone number and reference to call back - 0800 731 0114. Naturally, I did a quick online search, and lo and behold, it flagged up as a scam. Honestly, what a shocker! Just a heads-up for everyone out there! xx

@John Carter, have you considered adding the 0800 731 0114 number to your site? It seems to me that if businesses were more transparent like this, folks wouldn’t need to search for the number online and end up here. Instead, they could head straight to your website, which would reduce any mix-ups and make it all a bit easier for everyone involved.

John, I truly struggle to comprehend how you and your distasteful organisation can rationalise impersonating BT, only to later twist that into “Representing BT” and eventually morph that into a supposed partnership. It was only when I insisted that the caller provide my BT account number that he finally admitted he wasn’t affiliated with BT at all. Honestly, organisations that operate with such dubious "business models" rank amongst the most reprehensible entities out there.

I recently contacted BT, although the company I spoke to is not BT itself. However, they do work in collaboration with BT and may receive a commission on the upgrades they offer. Never trust a source that refuses to share information until you have sealed the deal. It is wise to be highly cautious in such situations. Avoid any involvement altogether! Additionally, it's important to be wary of sources like BT website when they are unable to provide the necessary details about their deals. It is best to stay away from such sources.

The company we will be discussing is DMSL, which is recognized as the leading partner of BT. Remarkably, they boast a dedicated website where the names of all their employees are prominently displayed. Two weeks ago, I made the decision to switch my BT broadband to DMS and I must say, I have had absolutely no issues since then. To my satisfaction, I received a confirmation email merely two days after contacting them. They were prompt in supplying me with important information, such as my account number and the address of my new site. Impressively, any queries I had were effortlessly addressed as they had knowledgeable personnel based in the UK whom I was able to communicate with directly. Having personally placed my trust in DMSL, I encourage you all to do the same.

We received a phone call from Wesley Miller, who claimed to be from BT, stating that our business broadband was about to expire. Unfortunately, they were unable to reach the designated person and left an account number for us to reference when returning the call. He claimed to be from BT, expressing a need to upgrade my existing BT Broadband package. He requested me to verify personal information such as my address, telephone number, and my mother's maiden name, which I provided without much thought. However, I became wary and questioned his motives for contacting me on my mobile phone and the excess amount of personal questions. Responding evasively, he explained that they only needed to confirm my details. As a reassurance, he promised to send confirmation of the upgrade via email.

Doubts have now crept into my mind regarding the legitimacy of this call by BT. I am concerned that I may have unwisely shared personal details with an untrustworthy scammer.
