4 yearsI received this phone number from the Microsoft support team when my previous call dropped unexpectedly. A rather chatty lady was on the other end, and she requested remote access to my machine, which I foolishly granted her. To my surprise, she attempted to bill me £349 for some dubious online protection, insisting that my computer had been compromised. Thankfully, the penny dropped eventually, but I’m left feeling quite anxious about the whole affair. Unfortunately, Microsoft wasn’t much assistance either.Microsoft5 yearsI searched online for computer help and called a guy who sounded like he was from South Asia, probably still in bed judging by how groggy he sounded. Right away, he told me to install some 'untraview' software so he could get into my PC remotely. That set off warning bells for me. After digging a bit more online, I found out he also claims to be Microsoft support and even runs ads on Google for that. Definitely looks like a scammer to me.
