Had a similar thing happen to me recently. Rang the number and got an Indian lady straight away, which made me a bit wary. She kept grilling me with all sorts of questions, but I cut her off and asked how they were gonna fix it. She said it’d be £49.99 plus she needed the serial number. I told her I’d ring back later. Then I just googled the solution on another gadget and fixed it in no time. Proper dodgy scam, if you ask me.

I got this annoying popup on my phone saying it was infected with a virus, and it wouldn’t disappear or let me use Safari at all. I called the number on the screen, and an Indian woman answered asking for the serial number. I just ended the call, then cleared all my Safari history and data, and thankfully the popup disappeared after that.

Totally dodgy. When I googled this number, Apple popped up with a way to sort the issue yourself, no need to ring that 0800 line they keep pushing.

I never actually dialled the number. I just switched off my phone and deleted all the browsing history in Safari. That seemed to sort it out.

My iPhone suddenly showed a pop-up warning about a virus on my device and told me to call a number right away, so I did. The call was picked up almost instantly by a woman with an Indian accent, but I struggled to understand her clearly. She requested my iPhone’s serial number, and foolishly I gave it to her. After that, she demanded £59.99 for fixing the supposed issue, which immediately rang alarm bells for me. I know Apple would never charge that much over the phone for this kind of thing. I got really frustrated and just ended the call. These scammers are bloody hopeless, honestly.

I just went through the same situation. Told them I didn’t have cash to get rid of any virus, and right away they slashed the price from £50 down to £25. When I told them I still couldn’t afford it, the guy got pretty annoyed. Hard to believe this supposedly came from Apple!

This morning I received a warning on my iPhone saying it might be infected with spyware and to ring some ‘IOS tech support’ number. I called back out of curiosity, but the person who picked up had a strong Indian accent and the line felt dodgy, so I ended the call quickly. Not long after, I got a call back from the same number at about 8am on a Sunday, which seemed pretty sketchy to me, so I just ignored it.
