Absolutely chuffed with the energy helpline! Their switching service is incredibly handy, and I had no problems whatsoever.

I received a rather peculiar call at 19:40 on the 20th of April back in 2010. The voice on the line didn’t sound familiar; it was like something out of a strange tale. They claimed to be from the energy hotline, offering to hunt down the most affordable energy supplier for us, calling us by name. We probed a bit further and were given the number 0800 6343868 and the postcode SE1 0HS. They also assured us they would wipe our details from their records - as if that would ease any concerns!

Just to add to the previous experiences, I received a call at 19:40 on the 20th of April 2010 from a rather unfamiliar voice, likely from overseas, and the number came up as "unavailable." This individual claimed to be affiliated with the Energy Helpline and insisted they could assist us in locating the most affordable energy supplier. After some pressing, we managed to get the number 0800 6343868 and a postcode, SE1 0HS, out of them. They even assured us they would remove our details from their records. Quite the unexpected interruption!

It appears that these individuals dialled me from an international number, seemingly to evade the Telephone Preference Service. When I returned their call, they identified themselves as the energy helpline. Is this possibly a scam?

On April 13, 2011, at precisely 12:18, we received an unsolicited call. It's worth noting that we are registered with the Telephone Preference Service, so these individuals have breached two important guidelines. Firstly, they’re peddling their wares to a TPS-listed number, and secondly, they conveniently mask their own identity. Once I challenged the caller, who identified himself as Simon Smith (possibly of Chinese descent?), he provided an 0800 number and a London address. The call was almost silent, with Simon taking an excessive minute or two to respond. This is nothing but sleazy, bottom-of-the-barrel salesmanship. Given this deceitful behaviour, why would anyone put their faith in a dishonest charlatan like him?
