I got a call on my Android from a number claiming to be the Thames Water "Water Efficiency Team". I didn’t pick up and no voicemail was left, plus my phone didn’t show who was calling. After having a look online, the number seems to be genuine. Turns out they’ve noticed a water leak at my place from checking my meter readings.

I'm not in a Thames Water region, yet they somehow had my details. As soon as I mentioned we aren't with Thames Water, they quickly ended the call. Tried looking for their number on the TW site but couldn’t spot it - although I might be mistaken!

A bloke named “Micheal” rang saying he was from Thames Water, mentioning high water usage and offering to send someone to check for leaks and give tips on saving water and cash. Every time I tried to say I wasn’t interested and gave my reasons, he kept cutting me off and talking down to me, going on about efficiency and saving money. I kept trying to get a word in but he wouldn’t stop interrupting, then he just hung up while slagging me off. Whether it’s a scam or not, it was a really nasty and unprofessional call.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Thames Water. The bloke said his name was Michael but then said that a ‘Michael’ would be calling shortly. I asked, “Wait, I thought you said you were Michael?” He got a bit flustered, kept saying “sorry?” a few times before rushing through a quick explanation. The whole thing felt a bit off to me.

Absolutely refrain from disclosing any personal details about yourself! I received a call from someone claiming to be with the Thames Water Authority, alleging that our water consumption was significantly higher than our neighbours'. I made it quite clear that I wouldn’t be sharing any private information. Following that, I reached out directly to the Thames Water Authority, and they confirmed that there were no concerns linked to my water account. They also mentioned that should any issues arise regarding consumption or payment, they would initiate contact with customers by sending a letter first.

THAMES WATER calling me again!

Got a call from a young woman with a friendly British accent, saying she was from the Thames Water water saving scheme. She seemed legit, but since I can fix dripping taps and toilets myself, I said no thanks. I asked if they could check the main water pipe coming from the pavement to my place for leaks, but she said that wasn’t part of their service.

This isn't a scam, they're actually from the Thames Water Smarter Home visit team. They check smart meters and if your water use seems too high for your household, it might mean there’s a leak somewhere between the meter and where water enters your home. The visit is just to check for leaks, which could end up saving you some money! They're not trying to sell you anything. They'll arrange a time and even give you the name of the person coming, who will have ID for security. It's all legit. Just ring back the number and you'll hear the official Thames Water greeting and menu options.

For those thinking this number's a scam, you're totally mistaken. The call is about a Smarter Home Visit where a legit Thames Water worker comes round to your house to give you free water-saving kit. If you've got taps dripping or loos leaking, a plumber will fix it for free as well. They'll just ask you a few questions about how much water you use and then send you a copy of the survey. You can double check by calling 08000433277 yourself.

Got a call today and I picked up, but no one spoke. If this is supposed to be a legit company working with Thames Water to help save water, then they’re doing a really rubbish job. Or maybe it’s some con artist trying to trick people into giving money by pretending to be a proper business?

They rang me on both my mobile and home phone, a really nice woman spoke to me, asked if they could book a visit to look for leaks and offer some tips on saving water. Being a pensioner, I was a bit concerned, so I called Thames Water myself who said everything was legit.

Typical scammy cold call, rang me today but didn’t bother leaving a message. After checking the comments, it’s obvious these are scammers. First off, no legitimate Water Company would randomly ring you or share your details with others. They always send letters or leaflets through the post. Also, the positive reviews on here all sound way too alike to be real. Plus, I’ve never given any water company my phone number. If they ring, just tell ’em to jog on and block the number.

SCAM Be careful, water companies ain’t responsible for the plumbing inside your house. My water company’s site never mentions fixing stuff inside the home. Plus, they defo wouldn’t hand out your info to some random cheap outfit no one’s heard about.
