They left a voicemail saying they were calling from British Gas business and asked me to ring back (I’m actually with British Gas, my contract’s up for renewal and I’d just got a letter about it, plus I’d been on the phone to them so I thought it was connected). They gave a different number to call back but it just didn’t work. When I tried the 0800 number, it played a message saying "we no longer handle calls for Sky". British Gas checked for me and said it wasn’t their number. Usually I wouldn’t bother chasing scam calls but this one really annoyed me with their blatant lying.

She claimed to be from British Gas. Sounded quite polite but pretty sure it’s a scam cos British Gas usually have the right name and number for their customers. I’m actually with another provider and she even called me by a completely different name.

Got a call from someone claiming to be British Gas, offering to renew my contract with a cheaper rate, which I'm not actually with. Felt a bit dodgy. I accidentally gave out my name and address at the start because they sounded very polite and genuine, not like the usual calls with an Indian accent. Pretty sure it's just a telemarketer trying to earn a commission if you switch. I'm going to wait and see what comes of it.

What’s the use in flagging these pesky calls when it seems like nothing changes? I've taken steps to block the numbers, yet they still manage to slip through the cracks. I really wonder why it can’t be made against the law for companies to cold call individuals, similar to how it’s done in the south of Ireland?

Sky. I’ve been getting loads of calls from this number since Monday, but they always hang up after just a couple of rings, so I never answer. I finally called back today and it was someone from Sky trying to offer cheaper deals on phone, broadband and TV. I told them I’m already tied into a contract for phone and broadband. The bloke I spoke to was quite friendly and said he’d make sure their system is updated.

Someone mentioned these calls come because we share our info, but that ain't completely right. Yeah it was Sky trying to offer me a better deal than Virginia's. I said it wasn’t my call to make, so he asked for the person in charge. I said they were out, he said he’d call back later. In the end, I just blocked the number.
