SCAM ALERT! I got a letter saying I owed money to O2, but I’ve never even had an account with them. Something felt off, so I looked up the number and saw loads of bad reviews, which just confirmed it was a scam.

I got this letter claiming I owed money for an O2 account, with a phone number 08005884217 that seemed legit and like the official O2 contact. But the rest of the letter felt off, so I didn’t give them any info. I rung O2 myself and they told me it was a total scam. Watch out and stay careful!

Got a letter claiming I owe money to them, but they couldn’t even bother to spell my name correctly! And they think I’m a customer? Ridiculous.

Got a letter from 02 saying I owe them money and if I don’t pay up they’ll drag me to court. The phone number they mentioned is actually on the documents they sent me.

Got a letter saying the number was from o2, but after checking with o2 themselves, turns out it’s definitely a scam.

Just like everyone else, I got a call saying I owe £24.98 and to have my card ready. After that, I received a letter claiming I owe £80 from what says it's o2. I tried ringing o2 but the person I spoke to had a heavy accent, sounded like an Indian call centre and I couldn’t make head or tail of what they were saying. I’m planning to take the letter to an o2 store today to sort it out. Ever since Virgin Mobile switched to o2, it’s been one headache after another for me.

They said they were from 02 but the details just didn’t add up right. I’d suggest checking the info against the official 02 site yourself if you’re unsure, or just ring up 02 directly. No legit company will try to scare you over a bill like that - that’s a total scam move! Been there, done that, dodged it.

Got an email telling me I’d missed a payment on my O2 bill, and it had a phone number, 0800 588 4217, to ring up. I phoned that number from my mobile, but when I then contacted O2 directly, they said they had no clue about any late payment or that number. Definitely a scam!

Got an email from this number claiming I owed £6.00 and warning me I'd get hit with a late fee if I didn't pay up in 4 days. Sounds dodgy to me.

Heads up, this number called me saying I owed £6 for some 02 sim card that doesn’t even exist. They wanted my credit card details and threatened me with a late fee if I didn’t pay within 4 days. Total con artists. Stay clear!

So, I got an email saying a new SIM was being sent to me. Then, just a few days after, another email popped up saying I owed £24.98 and needed to pay it within 4 days, plus a £6 late fee had been added. They also told me to ring 08005884217 and have my card info handy. Very dodgy if you ask me.

Just like the others said, I ended my contract with O2 not long ago and this number showed up with a direct debit that looked real. It matched exactly what I'd been paying every month.

I got a call from someone claiming to be O2, and since I'd just ended my contract with them, I thought it sounded legit. But after a bit, I got suspicious and rang O2 on another number. They told me my account was already closed and I didn’t owe anything. Proper dodgy call, be careful!

Just got a call out the blue saying I owe £32.80 on my O2 account. It sounded pretty legit at first, but I had a gut feeling it was dodgy. They asked for my card info to sort it out - definitely felt like one of those scams trying to steal money!

Don't bother, it's a complete rip-off.

Thought it might be a scam at first, but the info about a new O2 account seemed genuine. I called O2 and they verified the email was really from them, and all the other details matched up, apart from the fact that we don't owe anything and the phone number they provided isn’t linked to them. Feels like someone hacked into O2's system to steal our info.

Got a text saying my O2 bill is overdue, but it came from a weird number that I've never seen before. Definitely a dodgy scam attempt, loser!

No way they're making a quick buck from me, not now or ever.

Got a message saying I was behind on my bill with 02 and if I didn’t cough up within four days, they’d stick on a late fee. The text told me to ring 08005884217 and give them my card info. Seemed dodgy to me.

These scoundrels sent a message to my old Mum saying she owed them cash. She was really upset and rang me, nearly in tears. Took me ages to talk her round and prove it was just a scam. Honestly, these people should be stopped.

I got an email around 10.12am on 11th July 2022, which really freaked me out. The amount they said I owed was spot on, even down to the exact pence. I’d just upgraded my phone and that was exactly my new monthly bill. Feels like they’ve managed to get hold of info from O2, which is worrying.

Got a message saying I'd missed a payment and if I didn’t sort it out, they'd tack on another £6. They asked me to call 0800588 4217 with my card info ready. I had a look at my bank and everything was fine. Pretty clear this is a cheeky scam.

I ended my contract but then received a message saying my phone bill was unpaid, asking for £35.84 within four days or else they’d add £6 on top. It told me to ring 0800 588 4217 or dial 2729 to avoid the extra charge. Honestly, I almost got caught out by it!

I got an email saying my account is late by £8 and 2p, and if I don’t pay within 4 days, they’ll add £6 more. It also told me to have my card info ready to make a payment. I always pay by direct debit, so this feels like a scam to me.

Every now and then, I get a message claiming to be from O2 asking me to ring a number and give my card info to stop some kind of charge. I just ignore those texts completely.

BEWARE - if you get a text from this number pretending to be O2, do NOT call it or press any links. It’s a scam trying to nick your personal info. Also, if you receive any letters saying there’s an issue with your O2 account and you need to pay something, always ring O2 directly to check. I’ve had a bunch of these letters myself and they look just like the real thing. Pass this on please!

Just recently, my sister-in-law got a message from O2 claiming she owed money on her account, about what her monthly bill usually is, saying if she didn’t pay in 4 days, they’d tack on £3.50 extra. She normally pays by direct debit, and when she checked her O2 account online, everything was paid up. The text told her to call 0800 588 4217. This really shook her up, especially since she’s still grieving after losing her husband only a few weeks ago.

So I rang 0800 588 4217 earlier, and they claimed to be from O2 saying I owed them £10. Thing is, I already have a direct debit set up for my monthly payments. Does anyone know if I’ll actually get charged for this or not? Cheers, DP.

Just got hit with a massive Vodafone bill but I can’t even log into my online account to check what’s going on. I called Vodafone customer service and asked them to tell me which number I’d been calling loads that’s caused this huge increase. They gave me this number: 0800 588 4217 and said I’d called it 6 times which added nearly £18 to my bill, which is normally around £45 max. After a quick search, I found out it’s actually a scam number. Vodafone won’t lower the bill or let me access my account online. How is this allowed? And how come I was calling a scam number without realising? It’s so frustrating!

So I got a call from someone saying they were from O2, telling me I owed a bill. Made me suspicious, so I rang O2 myself to double check. Turns out it was a total scam since I'd already settled my bill a few days earlier. Definitely watch out for these crooks!
