I've received some rather forceful correspondence addressed to my husband, as well as numerous letters for others in our neighbourhood. It's quite perplexing, as he doesn't even hold an account with O2!

Got a default letter from O2 recently and then started getting calls, texts and emails too. Seems like a scam to me. If you’re getting this, definitely contact O2 straight away and let them know.

I've been inundated with emails and letters threatening disconnection from my O2 service. However, I took a look at my account, and to my surprise, there's no balance owing at all! It seems rather dodgy to me, especially since the letter looks remarkably legitimate.

Got a bill that looked proper official for £18 from O2 but I’ve never dealt with them before. Decided to look up the number on here and found loads of warnings about similar scams. They really ought to do more to stop these scammers from ripping people off. Really glad this site exists though, massive thanks to whoever runs it!

I got a dodgy letter from O2 saying I owed money, but the amount was all wrong and payments are on auto-pay anyway. Don’t bother calling them or sorting a payment form!

I recently got a letter claiming that I owe money to O2, which is baffling as I've never had any dealings with them. When I tried to call the number, all I got was some hold music with no one picking up. Given what I’ve read in the comments from others, I'm starting to think this might all be a scam. Seems rather dodgy to me!

Got a dodgy letter asking for money, then they just cut me off. There wasn’t any mobile number on it either. Threw it straight in the bin!

I got scammed by these lot pretending to be from O2, and since then, they’ve kept sending me letters saying my device’s been cut off and that I owe nearly £1850! I don’t even have their device, and the actual O2 have already told me I’ve been conned. These folks are seriously dodgy and cruel. Honestly, I hope no one else ends up stuck in this mess... it only happened to me 'cos I was an old Virgin customer. I've switched to another network now since I can’t trust who’s the real O2!

Just got my second letter too, and at first it seemed quite legit. But then I noticed they messed up the spelling of my surname, which made me suspicious straight away. Had a word with the postman, but he was clueless about what Royal Mail might be able to do. Big thanks to this site for highlighting these scam attempts.

Received a dodgy letter supposedly from O2, but the figures didn't tally with my account. I’ve got everything set to auto-pay, so it’s a bit puzzling. Whatever you do, steer clear of calling them or trying to arrange a payment slip!

Got a couple of texts and then two letters telling me my device was disconnected and that I have to ring a number to sort out an unpaid bill of £6. The second letter says the bill has jumped to £18. I don’t have an O2 contract, but it all looks really legit.

Just got a letter that looked proper official, supposed to be from 02. Since my business account takes the payments, I got suspicious and searched this number online to check if it's a scam.

Been getting texts and letters supposedly from 02, but when I ring them up, they say there’s no debt on my account. The latest letter showed the number 0800 588 4213, so I looked it up online and stumbled across this site. It’s quite worrying, to be honest.

I keep getting these menacing letters from O2, insisting that if I don’t ring this number and hand over money I supposedly owe them, they’ll send debt collectors after me. Naturally, I decided to give O2 a bell and they assured me that they never resort to such tactics - it’s clearly a dodgy scheme. So, do yourself a favour and steer clear of any 0800 numbers demanding cash; it’s all a con!

Got loads of letters and calls from O2 saying I owe them cash, but it’s all a load of rubbish - clearly some con artists trying to scam me. The so-called debt collectors keep hassling non-stop, but they're just dodgy scammers themselves. Honestly, these fraudsters are the worst kind of scum and should face the harshest consequences if caught.

These individuals are nothing short of fraudsters, engaging in incessant phone calls and sending threatening letters. It's pure harassment! They act like common thugs, akin to bullies hiding behind their screens. It's high time we rid society of this muck and address these people for what they are: the lowest of the low. Honestly, a more severe approach is warranted to put an end to these scam artists. We need to clamp down on their activities firmly to eliminate this abhorrent behaviour for good.

Hello there, I find myself in a bit of a pickle with O2 regarding an outstanding payment. I've been absolutely frantic trying to resolve this issue. I got a letter that claimed to be from O2, featuring this contact number for settling my dues. To my dismay, it appears that the number is a complete scam. The letter looked remarkably authentic, which makes it all the more perplexing!

I recently got a rather peculiar letter on 02's official letterhead, instructing me to contact them regarding some supposed debt assistance. The strange part? I'm not in debt for what they're claiming. Moreover, they’ve failed to specify which device they're talking about. The letter warns of disconnection, yet my mobile phone is functioning perfectly fine. I'm currently attempting to reach 02 on their 202 number to clarify this whole situation and find out what my next steps should be. Quite the hassle, isn't it?

For the past several weeks, I've been inundated with letters insisting that I owe money to O2, yet I've never even held an account with them. I tried calling them up, but after being on hold for what felt like an eternity-about ten minutes, I decided to hang up. It's utterly ridiculous!

What a shambles! I received a rather alarming notification asserting that I had signed up for a tablet contract the previous year and had an outstanding balance. Naturally, I reached out to O2, and they categorically stated it’s all a load of nonsense and that they have zero connection to this so-called company. I've been bombarded with a plethora of letters from them - it’s utterly ridiculous!

I haven’t had any calls from this number, but it was mentioned in a letter I got in the post. The correspondence appeared to be from O2. I've not been with them for a few years now, having switched to GiffGaff once my contract wrapped up. When I tried calling this number, it immediately took me to a message about topping up my phone, asking me to enter the number I wanted to top up. I find it all rather odd, especially since the letter warned me that if I didn’t make a payment, the matter would be referred to a debt collector. It even instructed not to reach out to them directly, but rather to ring this number instead. Seems a bit dodgy to me as I have no outstanding balance with O2 whatsoever. - caller: 0800 588 4213

I decided to give them a bell again and ended up chatting with a lovely lass from Scotland. She mentioned that it’s essentially an automated dialler from O2 that kicks in when you’ve got some outstanding balance! Thankfully, we sorted our payment a wee while back, so everything’s hunky-dory now. She did mention, though, that the auto-dialler might keep on ringing us until the next billing cycle, but we can just brush it off. Hope this sheds a bit of light for you! Cheers, n x

I received a call from these folks earlier today claiming to be from O2. They were probing for our security code and wanted to discuss our account details. I didn’t feel comfortable with their approach, so I ended the conversation. After that, I contacted O2 directly, and they confirmed that there’s no record of that number associated with them. I strongly suspect this was a scam!

I received a call from this number, although we didn't answer at the time. I decided to ring them back using a different number. To be honest, we’re already with them, so I’m not quite sure what their issue was in contacting us.

We've had a couple of missed calls from these folks previously, but during our chats on O2, we've wondered if there's any credibility to them. What do you reckon?
10 years
I just received a call from this number and according to what I found, it was linked to O2. Nothing transpired during the conversation, but the callers were keen to know when they could chat with me. We had a rather baffling exchange where I ventured a “what” in a Scottish accent, but then it fell silent again. We tried saying hello once more, only to be met with the same repeated message, almost word for word, just like the first time. It struck me as a rather dodgy automated call, especially with the identical phrasing and those awkward pauses happening again.

I'm quite certain it's O2; I just gave them a bell back using the same number and had a proper chat with them. If it were some sort of scam, they wouldn't have been able to lift the call restriction, would they?
10 years
Indeed, it is affiliated with O2. The call came from their collections department, which typically happens when a payment has been missed. It's also possible that if you've just settled a bill-say within the last day or so, whether online or via phone-their system might not have updated yet, leading to what could be considered a timing mismatch.

We've just received a call from this number and have no idea who it belongs to. When we answered, there was complete silence at first. Just as we were about to hang up, we heard the voice of an Asian male, but the line dropped almost instantly. Following that, a Scottish woman came on the line asking for someone named 'Madeline.' We informed her it was the wrong number, and she responded with a rather odd 'That's perfectly alright,' as if we were the ones in the wrong. Quite strange, really. Also, there's no indication that this is linked to O2 at all.
