Yesterday, my mum, who’s 88, got a phone call from this number. A man who said his name was Roland and that he worked for John Lewis was trying to get her to share private info like her birthday and bank details. He went on about her broadband, TV, and landline being about to be disconnected, which really worried her. Mum’s memory isn’t great and she gets mixed up sometimes, so she can’t quite recall everything she said. Thankfully, she got a bit wary and ended the call before it went any further.

Just got a text about JL broadband out of the blue, they want me to call a number. Don’t even have that service. Could this be some sort of scam?

Today I got a call from this number, and the person was asking me questions about my broadband speed and internet usage. Then out of nowhere, they started asking for my bank account details, which immediately made me suspicious!

I got the same message two times, once in January and again in March 2023, but I never got any email about it. It said something about my John Lewis Broadband and that they’d emailed me about closing the service. They want me to either check out plus.net/john-lewis/deal or ring 0800 587 1928 to see what I can do next. I guess it’s meant for me since it’s about my broadband.
