Pretty clear it’s a scam right from the start. They ring me, and as soon as I pick up, they just end the call immediately. The number always shows with +44 in front, so you know they’re calling from abroad, not locally. Honestly, these call centres should be stopped for good.

D&G pretending to be Sky again, what a joke. Just to clear things up, Sky rents out their gear, so when you end your contract you gotta hand it back. If the stuff breaks, Sky’s actually supposed to swap it out according to the contract. You really don’t need any insurance for that stuff at all.

Just like others have pointed out, this call comes from D&G Insurance working for Sky. It’s not Sky directly though they might start the call saying "On behalf of Sky", which is technically right but kind of misleading. They'll mention things like Sky Go to sound legit, but really they’re trying to sell you insurance, not offer help. It’s not a con exactly, but if you don’t want insurance on your Sky gear or other home electronics, you can just ignore it without any worries.

Got a call from Domestic & General pretending to be from Sky, trying to chat me up about features I already had, then pushing me to buy Sky appliance insurance? Seriously, why? Everything’s sorted with Sky Q anyway. They said it was some anniversary offer with three months free? As if we’re that gullible! I can’t believe they think people will sign up for stuff they don’t actually need. Heads up: like with all dodgy calls, be careful if they mess up your name or address, and always watch out if they start with "and how are you today?" - I just reply, "I was doing fine, thanks!"

The person said her name was Sky at first. When I asked what department she was from, she replied "Insurance". I wasn’t convinced and told her, "So you’re not really Sky then!" She then claimed they had permission from Sky. After that, it was just “Goodbye” and she hung up.

My landline keeps getting calls every evening from this number, usually around 5:50 to 6pm, and it’s marked as spam. One time I picked up but there was silence on the other end. Tonight I rang them back and a recorded voice said it was for Domestic & General Insurance. They told me to call 0800479756, but when I tried that number, a message said their offices were closed. I’ll give it another go tomorrow during working hours.
