Earlier today, I had an uninvited visitor at my door-a chap claiming to be from a roofing firm, saying he spotted some issues with my roof. He mentioned that he’d been busy helping others in the vicinity, all of whom were pleased with his work. I asked for some promotional material, and the phone number 08004748761 was printed on the leaflet he provided. I told him I'd consider it and went online to investigate further, discovering the name Coastguard Roofing linked with an address in Burton upon Trent. A quick glance at Street View showed it to be a modest terraced home. Strangely, I couldn’t find any mention of the company online whatsoever. When he returned, I inquired why a company of that name was missing from the internet. He replied that advertising was a costly affair. I also pointed out that he was rather far from his supposed office in Burton, given that I’m situated down in Devon. He insisted that was the head office and there were contractors everywhere. He may have been telling the truth, but I decided not to pursue the matter any further.
