Just got a call saying there’s been some weird activity on my card and they had to freeze it. They asked if I’d spent £103.00 and told me to reply yes if I did, or ring 08004370297 if I didn’t. Sounds like someone pretending to be HSBC to me.

I received a message purporting to be from my banking institution, saying that my credit card had been blocked. The text inquired whether I had made a transaction for .....GBP, asking me to respond with 'yes' if I did, or to press 'no' and call 0800437 297 if I had not. I hadn't done either. I took the precaution of contacting my bank directly and promptly deleted the suspicious message.

Got a call from someone claiming to be HSBC, saying there was suspicious activity on my card and to ring them straight away. Of course, I called and it turned out to be a scam. Proper sneaky trick!
