So, they offered to send me a new landline with a built-in call blocker to help get rid of all those annoying marketing calls. Hopefully, it’ll put an end to those telemarketers ringing me all the time. Fingers crossed it actually works!

I received a rather dubious call from someone claiming to be from BT, warning me that my phone would soon be out of date in just ten days' time. They were after my approval to dispatch new devices and process a payment. When I mentioned that nobody was home to give consent, the caller queried if I could authorise it myself, to which I firmly replied no. He then stated he would try again later before abruptly hanging up. I've since blocked the number, but despite having filtering in place to halt such nuisances, they managed to ring through again. These scammers really don’t know when to give up!

Heads up, these people are really pushy! They say they’re calling from BT and that your phone is broken and you must pay for a replacement. If you go along with it, they want £110 from you. Stay cautious!

My mother received a call from a company claiming to be "MaxStore", alleging some sort of partnership with BT. After double-checking with BT, I've confirmed they're not linked at all. This charlatan outfit reached out to her twice; the first occasion, she managed to brush them off by saying she simply couldn't afford their offer. However, they’ve decided to bother her again just a few months later. They’re trying to peddle a phone that supposedly blocks scammers and international calls for a rather steep price of £120. When she firmly declined the offer and requested that they erase her information from their records, they threatened her with disconnection in ten days. She rightly responded that she would handle any issues with BT when the time came.

I received a call from someone purporting to represent a firm called "MaxStore," claiming to be associated with BT. After verifying with BT, it became clear they have no connection whatsoever. The caller insisted that my current phone was outdated and required replacement-complete with a £120 price tag-to safeguard against scam calls. The irony was not lost on me! When my friend expressed her disinterest in upgrading and asked them to erase her information from their records, they ominously warned that not doing so might lead to her disconnection within ten days. Naturally, she responded that she’d handle any issues directly with BT if they arose. A quick search revealed this number is linked to a series of scams involving various companies, including Virgin Media and HMRC.

I had a chat with my sister earlier today, and sadly, she got caught up in it all. I did a reverse phone lookup and found shocking similarities to what someone wrote before. She even queried, "You’re not gonna wipe my bank account, are you?" The poor thing doesn’t engage with social media at all, so she had no clue about this. Now, she’s gone ahead and cancelled her card. The caller even had the audacity to ask if she was suffering from dementia or Alzheimer’s. When she tried to explain about her upcoming appointment, he just snapped back with, "Just yes or no." Quite unfathomable, really!

Received a call from someone claiming to be with Virgin, insisting they were there to help me put a stop to nuisance calls. They had my name and address, which threw me off a bit. When they requested my date of birth for ‘verification’, I became suspicious. Next, they wanted details from my bank statement or a Virgin bill-definitely felt like a scam at that point. I promptly hung up on them.

They purport to assist with bothersome calls, but then they dive straight into requesting bank information for ‘verification’. I promptly refused to disclose any personal details. They’re quite crafty in their approach, as they don’t bother to ascertain whether you actually want their assistance; instead, they jump straight to asking for your financial specifics. They had the audacity to say they'd ring me back in ten minutes to see if I think they're dodgy. They also reached out to my elderly grandmother, who’s 79, but fortunately I was there to intercept the call. If I hadn’t been around, it could have caused her quite a bit of distress.

My mother, who is 94, recently answered a call from this firm claiming to be BT. They stated they wanted to visit and fit two new phones that would supposedly block nuisance calls. Oddly enough, they didn’t mention any charges at all. I immediately rang BT’s fraud hotline, and they confirmed that they do not reach out to customers like that. Quite alarming!

I’ve been attempting to persuade my 82-year-old mother that upgrading to two new mobile phones is essential to ward off those pesky scammers. She let slip to one of them that I hold power of attorney as her daughter, which seemed to irritate him. He ended up getting so flustered that she hung up on him. To make matters worse, he claimed he had her credit card details. I tried ringing them back after my mum noted down their number, but nobody answered. Later, they called me, and when I confronted the chap, he outright denied contacting her. He became quite aggressive until I pressed him on how he got my number. I made it very clear that he should never call her again. Just wanted to give a heads-up about this company-stay vigilant!

When I popped over to see my 89-year-old mother today, I found her with an envelope containing £120 in cash, all set for a supposed delivery from Max Talk. Apparently, they had contacted her and mentioned that she could purchase a couple of phones; however, she hadn’t provided her debit card information, so they promised that someone would come round with the devices. The number they supplied was 08004101646. It’s clear to me that this is a scam, as she certainly doesn’t require a new phone and was rather pressured into thinking she did!

I received a phone call earlier today from someone who asserted they were collaborating with Virgin. Strangely, they appeared to possess my credit card information, claiming it had been sourced through Virgin. I repeatedly expressed my suspicions, labelling them as potential fraudsters. They insisted they were legitimate and claimed to be dedicated to preventing unwanted calls from other scammers. To gain their "services," they requested a one-off payment of £100 and promised to send me a BT phone with installation instructions. I eventually hung up, but they kept ringing me back; however, I opted not to respond.

What’s puzzling is why our government doesn’t seem to take any serious action against these con artists and crooks. It feels like they’re all talk and no real effort. Just take a look across the pond; the Americans actively chase these criminals down, and even in Canada, they’re locking them up! Honestly, we’ve reached a point where we can’t even use our landlines without worrying about intrusions. Our privacy is under siege, and quite frankly, it's becoming unbearable!

Cheers! That was really useful information. They've just attempted to swindle £120 from my elderly mum and dad!

I received a call from someone purporting to be from a service that blocks troublesome calls. They were quite insistent on obtaining my debit card details, claiming it was necessary for verification to ensure that I was genuinely who I claimed to be. They proceeded to explain that once this was sorted, they'd be sending me a new device to help filter out the pesky calls. I firmly told them there was no way I’d part with my card information and pointed out that my mobile provider already offers a call blocking feature.

I was left rather baffled by the name of the company after asking for clarification three times! They professed to offer a service that could block unwanted calls on my landline at no charge. However, during the verification stage, I was prompted to re-confirm my Visa card information. They insisted that I had shared this information in a prior conversation, which I firmly challenged. I told them that if they indeed had my details, they should disclose them to me so I could verify. I never share my card information unless it's for a purchase, and ultimately, the call ended with them hanging up. Quite the experience, I must say!
