I just had a chat with BT regarding this number, and the representative I spoke to was based in India, which made comprehension rather tricky, to say the least. I pointed out that we’re signed up with the TPS (I had verified this on their site beforehand) and was informed that due to some new billing system, certain options hadn’t been selected correctly, hence the unsolicited calls. They assured me that the necessary boxes have now been ticked correctly and that, in roughly 28 weeks, we should be free from any additional marketing calls. Honestly, we’re not exactly counting down the days!

Finally answered on the last one, and an Indian lady told us she was from BT, trying to determine how they could help us save some cash. She asked for our name and customer ID, but we mentioned that BT should already have that information on file. In response, she claimed that, due to data protection regulations, she couldn't provide us with any details. At that point, we decided to hang up.

We clarified our current position and told her that if she had a genuinely advantageous proposal, we'd like her to send the details in writing. To our astonishment, she claimed that BT doesn't provide written offers as it's purely a telephone sales operation, and then abruptly disconnected us. This level of service is simply not on. I recently received a call from this number, and the caller claimed to be from BT, attempting to persuade us to switch to a more economical line rental and cheaper call rates. I made it clear that our number is on the Telephone Preference Service register and that such calls should not be made to us. The caller, however, insisted that this didn't exempt them from making contact and continued to argue the point. Ultimately, we asked him to remove our number from their listings and hung up. I intend to file a complaint with BT, as it’s utterly frustrating when they disregard the TPS guidelines. What hope do we have if they continue to flout the rules?
