It's a fraudulent call, masquerading as if they're representing Paypal.

It purports to be from PayPal, but I'm still uncertain about its legitimacy.

It's clear that this is a scam revolving around PayPal.

I've noticed some rather dodgy goings-on with my account. There's a request for £1499 coming from the dark web, insisting I ring a number posthaste. Looks like yet another PayPal scam to me.

I found myself pondering how on earth PayPal managed to obtain my email, especially since it isn’t associated with my actual PayPal profile. So, I decided to ring the number provided (+448003685312). The atmosphere was quite chaotic, and the operator had a noticeable Far-Eastern accent. They asked me for the email to which the dubious correspondence had been sent, but before I could respond, they abruptly terminated the call. Thankfully, that email isn’t linked to my PayPal, but rather to my Facebook account. It leads me to suspect that these scammers might have pinched my personal information directly from Facebook and are now attempting to swindle unsuspecting users.

Indeed, much like others have experienced, I received a rather dubious email that read as follows: "Bretyn Burton has sent you a request for payment." A message from Bretyn Burton stated: "ALERT: UNUSUAL TRANSACTION OF £1499.00 GBP DETECTED IN YOUR ACCOUNT CONNECTED TO THE DARK WEB. TO PREVENT THIS TRANSACTION, PLEASE RING US IMMEDIATELY ON +44-800-368-5312." Details regarding the payment request: - Transaction ID: U-6VB64135ED330221D - Transaction Date: 10th December 2022 Out of curiosity, I did give them a call, only to find myself met with an automated voice, followed by a man with a distinctly Indian accent... It's a classic scam, without a doubt!

I’ve just had three emails from PayPal, all personalised with my name, claiming there were requests for £499 in Boots gift cards. Instead of calling the number they provided, I decided to head straight to the PayPal site to check things out. It’s certainly left me feeling a bit on edge, to say the least.

I received an odd notification today regarding ten payment requests for Boots Gift Cards supposedly sent by someone named Khirysha Coleman, directing me to phone a particular number. I thought I’d better log into my PayPal account, but did so independently, avoiding any links provided in the email. Sure enough, I found all the transactions pending confirmation. I also took the precaution of looking up PayPal’s official customer service numbers, and I couldn’t find anything matching that number. Quite suspicious, if you ask me!

To add to what I mentioned earlier, a representative from PayPal informed me that if you've received a dodgy email pretending to be from them, it's best to just delete it. They'll handle the situation on their end. Whatever you do, don’t ring the number listed in that email!

Fraudulent PayPal Communication. I got an email urging me to ring this number. It seems that PayPal struggles to prevent scammers from exploiting their email system. My faith in PayPal has completely eroded, so I’ve decided to close my account for good.

PayPal really needs to tighten their security measures because this kind of scam is bound to catch out unsuspecting folks. It's ludicrous that someone can simply ask for funds, armed only with an email address, and fabricate a message that seems so convincingly misleading.

My spouse has similarly received the same email - every detail matching what others have said here. They’re requesting a payment of £1,499. We certainly suspected it might be a scam, but I truly appreciate the insights shared by others that affirm our suspicions.
