Reading through the comments, it looks like some folks reckon this number might be spoofed by scammers. But the call I got sounded pretty legit to me. It was one of those automated calls warning about unusual activity on my account, which made sense as I'd recently had issues with my card. They didn’t ask me to give out any info apart from choosing my birthdate from a few options. Then they went through a list of particular transactions that I doubt a fraudster would know offhand. I confirmed they were all mine by pressing a button, and that was the end of it.

I got a call from what seemed like the Barclays fraud team. I wasn’t sure at first but after talking to them on my mobile, I rang Barclays on the number from the back of my card using my landline. They verified the details of my earlier chat and even sent a one-time code to my phone. So yeah, it looks like this number is legit.

I got a text from Barclays saying there was a suspicious transaction that they’d blocked, and they wanted me to confirm if it was fraud. Then this same number phoned me to cancel my card. I got repeated calls from some random number, about four times in total. I finally picked up on the last one, and a robot voice started telling me there was suspicious activity on my card and to press some buttons. I just hung up straight away. Then I called the genuine fraud helpline I’d used before, and they told me nothing was happening with my card and no record of them contacting me. Later on, I noticed a voicemail left on my landline as well.
