I got a ring from that number the other day. They were asking for my card digits and the CVV, claiming there was some dodgy transaction on my account. But when I asked them about the merchant's name, they suddenly couldn’t give me a straight answer. If they say they’ve seen my card activity, how come they can’t tell me where it was spent? To me, this smells like a total scam, trying to fish out my details under false pretences.

This number keeps ringing me up, saying it’s Barclaycard about some fraud. Looks like a total scam to me, my card has been cancelled for over a year now. I just ignore it and don’t pick up.

This number rang me 5 times but I missed all, so it went straight to voicemail. The message was odd, saying there was some dodgy activity on my account but I checked online and nothing suspicious or payments gone out. Weirdly, the caller never said they were from any bank which made me doubt it straight away. Plus, I never gave this number to any bank. I also looked online and none of my accounts were frozen, which you’d expect a real bank would do if there was a problem. So yeah, I reckon it was just a scam.

So, I got a couple of texts asking if I'd actually made three transactions on my Barclaycard. The message told me to reply with Y or N to confirm. I replied N because the final purchase definitely wasn’t done by me. After that, they said my card was blocked and that they’d call me later today, but no call came through. Then, the real Barclays Fraud team called me from 08001512184 about some suspicious activity on my card. My question is, how on earth did these people get hold of the last four digits of my card to begin with? Very worrying!

I received a rather concerning message earlier. It stated something along the lines of: "Hello, we need you to verify some recent transactions made on your credit card ending in XXXX (which was indeed accurate). Please take a look at the payments detailed in the subsequent message from 85099. BE CAUTIOUS, THIS IS A SCAM. We will never contact you to dictate what responses to give. If this has occurred, please reach out to us without delay. Your Barclaycard team." Shortly after, I got another message listing a bunch of transactions with random amounts and dates. After checking my bank statement, I found no such entries. To top it all off, I've had seven missed calls from this number ever since. Quite the nuisance, I must say!

had a call from someone claiming to be from barclays fraud dept, left a recorded message about blocking a dodgy transaction. funny thing is, i got a text earlier saying the same thing. so i looked up both numbers on barclays’ site just to be sure, and they checked out alright. then a real person rang me to confirm everything, and i did the same check with their number. turns out it was legit. they said someone tried to make an online purchase for £187, so they’d frozen my card and would send me a replacement. glad they caught it in time!
