You can find info about blocking calls on BT’s site, and generally they don’t do cold calls selling stuff like that. If you’re getting scam calls, make sure to report them to 'Action Fraud'. That’s how the police keep track of how bad these scams really are. Don’t just hope someone else will do it. If you want this to stop, every single scam call, text, or email needs to be reported.

Got a call earlier from some number I didn't recognise. This woman with an Indian accent said she was from BT and somehow had my name, address, and phone number. She asked if I was over 50 because there’s a free service to stop annoying calls, but then she wanted my date of birth to verify it. I wasn’t about to give that info away. Got a ring from this number a bit ago. The bloke sounded pretty convincing at first. He kept saying he was from BT, but I don’t even have a BT line, so I asked why they were getting in touch. Got a ring from this number at 1:15 pm earlier. They just cut off, which was a shame, I had my air horn geared up for them. It blasts at 130 decibels and really hurts your ears. Wish I could get one that goes up to 140 decibels here in the UK - that’d probably finally stop these scam calls for good by frying their eardrums. Ofcom seems hopeless when it comes to handling these VOIP scams; they probably find it too much hassle. So yeah, sometimes you have to get creative with how you fight back.

On Thursday the 4th of July, 2019 at 9:34am, I got a call from 0800 150 150. I just let the voicemail pick up and they ended the call straight away. These scammers can now make any number show up on your phone, so watch out, even if it looks like it's your bank calling. Be super cautious!

This morning I got two calls from 0800150150. I ignored the first one but picked up the second time and said hello, then they just hung up on me. I’m really relieved to have come across this site because now I know it’s a scam. Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent saying he was from BT. He actually called me by my last name which was a bit creepy. He said something about stopping all those unknown calls from bothering me but then quickly slipped into trying to check my info. I told her I wasn’t a B.T customer anyway, and she just said fine then hung up. Felt a bit fishy about the whole thing, so I called the number back but she dropped the call straight away. I’ve since blocked the number on my phone. The weirdest part is she knew my name, but thankfully didn’t ask for any personal info. Quite unsettling, really.

I got two calls from this number today, each time it was a woman with an Indian accent trying to sell me some sort of service. She asked for my bank info, but when I questioned her about who she exactly was and asked for contact details, she just ended the call straight away.

Like quite a few others have mentioned, I got a call from a woman claiming to be from BT, saying they had just put a stop to all nuisance calls. Normally I don’t pick up on numbers I don’t recognise, but this one seemed legit so I took it. While she was chatting away, I quickly searched the number and found out it was actually a scam, so I just ended the call.

This morning I got a call from them, and the guy asked for my birth date. I refused to give it, and suddenly he got annoyed and just ended the call. Does anyone know how to block these annoying calls for good?

Today I got a call claiming to be from BT about annoying calls, quite funny really. They asked me to ring 0800150150 to report any problems. Then the person asked me which bank I use for my direct debit, but I said no and they just ended the call - totally a scam, for sure!

Got a call from some bloke who said he was “Steven Jones” - might not be his real name though - saying he was from BT. He told me my broadband and calls would be cut off unless I paid an overdue amount of £1.97. He even knew my address and stuff, which made it sound legit at first. But I’m pretty sure he was trying to trick me into giving my debit card details so he could nick £1197 instead of £1.97. Almost took the bait, to be honest.

I had the same thing pop up today, some Indian accent on the phone. When I checked the number on 1471, it came up as 001011. Definitely steer clear of it, almost got caught myself.

I just got a call from an Asian lady claiming to be from BT, saying she’d give me a number to report nuisance calls. Pretty soon I guessed it was a scam, so I kept my answers short and vague. When she wanted my personal info because she said she’d be sending me a letter, I told her she should already have it since she called ME! This kind of trick might fool some folks because it sounds harmless enough, but I reckon the 0800 number might actually be linked to a pay-as-you-go phone, which is how they profit - or it’s just to get you to spill your details. I’m curious if they’d get more people if the caller had a British accent. We really need to watch out, this kind of thing seems like the next wave of scams coming round. Stay safe, everyone!

Today I got a call from someone claiming to be BT, saying we owed £7.26 and had to pay immediately or our broadband and landline would be disconnected today. Funny enough, I'm still online now, so not sure what that was about!

Just got a ring from a bloke calling himself Mike Wilson, sounded Indian though. He was asking what my mum's middle name was, and strangely he already knew she uses direct debit to pay her bills. Wanted to double-check the bank the payment comes from. He mentioned they'd be sending a letter in a couple of weeks to confirm what we talked about on the phone. Also said if I got any dodgy calls, I could call 0800150150 anytime since the service was free for older folks. Oh, and he also asked for my mum’s date of birth. Bit strange if you ask me.

So, I got a call from this number and decided to look it up on google while they were still talking. That's how I ended up on this forum. As soon as I asked them some questions and they wanted my info, they just hung straight up. Totally a scam if you ask me.

Got a call from this number today, claiming to be BT 01011, warning about nuisance calls and asking for info. I foolishly gave them some details, but now I think it was a scam. They then gave me another number to call back on, 0800150150.
