I've had an encounter with this particular number, and it's linked to M&S Bank. They were following up regarding a direct debit I had missed on a loan I took out previously. I managed to make my payment via this number, and then two days later, I reached out to M&S’s customer service on 0345 900 0900. They confirmed that the payment I made had indeed been allocated to my loan account. From what I've experienced, it's definitely a legitimate number affiliated with M&S.

Got two calls in as many days, they kick off by saying my name and asking if they’ve got Mr on the line. Then they want me to do some sort of security check. I just hung up straight away. I looked up the number on M&S’s official fraud checker and it didn’t show up at all. Also chatted with someone through the M&S app, and they said for sure it’s a scam, told me to block the number quick.

This particular number seems to ring me like clockwork every morning at 8 o'clock. Today, I finally picked up and found myself speaking to a chap with a distinctly British accent. He inquired about someone who clearly doesn't reside here. When I let him know, he insisted I needed to verify my phone number so he could take it off their call list. I questioned why he required my number in the first place since he was the one who called me. He claimed he had my number but insisted that unless I confirmed it, I would remain on the list and continue receiving these incessant calls. I firmly told him I wasn't going to provide my number and that the whole thing felt rather suspicious.

I've received calls from 0800 141 2573 around three or four times daily until yesterday. I was feeling under the weather and resting when they got in touch. Initially, I mentioned that I never conduct banking over the phone due to concerns about scams, and to my surprise, they actually concurred. Not feeling comfortable, I told them I'd ring back instead, and the representative suggested I use the number found on the back of my card. Well, I never made that call. Quite displeased with the whole experience, to be honest.
