I got a random call from a guy with a Scottish accent, out of the blue. He said he needed to talk about a note on my account. Seemed pretty convincing, but something felt off. He started asking me security questions about my details. I stayed cool and told him I wasn't comfortable giving that info. Then, suddenly, he just hung up without saying goodbye. I reckon that 0800 number was covering up a different, dodgy number trying to scam me.

Sounds pretty genuine to me. Definitely seemed like the Virgin support crew just trying to sort things out.

no voicemail or anything. from what ive read here, ive never even had accounts with yorkshire or clydesdale banks so def think its dodgy. reminds me of another scam where they used an sse number last year.

i picked up and it hung up after like 5 seconds, i think they probably ring a bunch of people at once and only talk to whoever picks up first. they didnt say a word so im guessing its a scam.

I received a call regarding an outstanding balance of £23.64 on my current account, but here’s the kicker: I’ve got a whopping £12,489.68 sitting snugly in my savings account at the very same branch. It seems the young chaps on the other end of the line aren't clued up on the principles of set-off! I also mentioned that their new mobile banking app, which they’ve rather insistently rolled out to all of us existing users, leaves a lot to be desired and feels quite user-unfriendly.
